  1. The best thing was watching one of my boys call his grandmother to tell her his Dad got the job. His hands were shaking.
  2. For almost ten years I've only been able to see DH on the weekends. He's coming home.
  3. I just got some ultra, super, really great, wonderful, awesome happy news! That job thing that y'all prayed about and sent best wishes for worked out! :hurray:
  4. We survived the day. It wasn't as bad as I feared. Now I'll just bake a few potatoes and kick back, listen to my boys read to me, and get some writing done this evening.
  5. Imma go take the girls for their mile walk. Then I said I would listen to the next installments of the manuscripts that my boys have been working on while noshing on bon-bons and lying on the bed with the old cat. I think I can handle that.
  6. My understanding is that the snot was provided free of charge by an evil dragon to the local bad guy in exchange for a crack at the hero of the story. Somehow I think that local bad guy is getting a raw deal. Or at least a slimy one.
  7. Very true. And MG has already lost. She's lost the chance of having your DD as a friend. And even MG's "friends" know that she isn't a trustworthy person. And your DD has already won. She's not letting a bully chase her out of anything. Even if she decides to quit dance and move to a new studio, or to take up something else entirely, she'd doing it on her own terms, not because some bully pushed her out.
  8. No, can't top that one. We do, however, have an armored car that is fueled by recycling magic created from dragon snot.
  9. I want my Evil Overlord shirt. INTJ--ask me about ruling the world, because I've got a system!
  10. On some days I don't got that! Currently listening to two boys arguing about who can have volcanoes on islands in separate imaginary lands, because it might be copying. :glare:
  11. Well, I hope not. Cause if I ever become a squillionaire we are absolutely having the ITT Meet in Person at my private lake.
  12. Another INTJ here. I like homeschooling because it's a nice problem to solve. How do I balance homeschooling, work outside the home, taking care of the home, my writing and self-care? It used to bother me until I decided to figure it out and make a system that works for us. Now I constantly play with it, and it isn't perfect, but then I would probably take perfect and tweak it, so I'm happy in my own little INTJ way.
  13. Boy today after Latin quiz-- "Mom, I don't know what's wrong with me. I couldn't think, so I'm mad; but at the same time I keep thinking of something funny and I want to laugh. What's wrong with me?!" Poor boy. Combination of hormones and hunger. Bad cocktail, dude.
  14. Well, I don't think much of a director that asks a parent to solve all the problems. But as for the second, you have already accomplished a great deal. 1) You have alerted the class authority that there is a problem in their class. 2) You have stood side by side with your daughter and validated her. 3) You have already started to research strategies for dealing with bullies that she can use whenever the situation arises. 4) You have shown her how you go about confronting a situation and working to make it better. And no, it isn't easy, and it isn't going to happen overnight, and maybe not in time to prevent your DD from quitting the class, which I would support her in doing if changes are not made in a set time frame. Those changes would be a reduction (maybe not a full stop) to the bullying behavior, and your daughter feeling that she has sufficient strategies and protections to be comfortable in the class.
  15. I think there are things you can do to make an act of bullying obvious for the instructor or teacher. It could be difficult to pick up an act of bullying that is whispered or done out of sight. I would make a deal with the instructor that your DD will give a clear signal that bullying is going on. That might be asking the bully to repeat what she just said, but it could mean simply picking up her gear and heading for the door. At any rate, the "not seeing" part is covered.
  16. We have been out and about this morning in the big town with the old cat. She had a good recheck on her eye, and now we are back home, trying to get through the day. Let you know how it goes!
  17. Recheck for the old cat went well today. She's clear of corneal lesions for now. And disgusted with me for dragging her out of her warm bed just so that somebody could tell me she is fine. Tough luck, cat. We are going to attempt to cram a full day of school on top of having spent all morning away from the house. I don't see this going well, but you never know until you try. The kittens are totally adorameow.
  18. :hurray: Kittens!!!!! Go Mom-cat! Sometimes we gotta brag a little bit. He's been very dedicated to getting this book finished. Up at dawn writing kind of dedicated, writing after school and he was writing right up until bedtime to finish it tonight. So I'll let him brag. And if you can't tell, I'm a little bit proud of him. :thumbup1:
  19. My son informs me that he has just finished a manuscript of an adventure story. It is 134 pages.
  20. I'm not sure why cats engage in lick wars. But they do.
  21. The boys and I call those "relaxing evenings". We love them. :001_smile:
  22. It's not so bad when you go for competent, not perfect, as Jean says. And also when you let go of the idea that it's up to you to teach them everything. Turns out you can't, and even if you could, it wouldn't be good for them.
  23. I have had a productive day, ticks and all. School done. Housekeeping done. Authed my 2,500 words for the day, and it was pretty cool. Now I'm going to eat leftovers for dinner and find out what was so all-fired important about the War of the Roses.
