  1. Well, if it makes you feel better, I can tell you that Math U See is worth the wait:) We LOVE it:)
  2. Awesome that she loves to read! Your daughters are beautiful by the way, I was looking at your blog:001_smile: I was thinking "narration" as I read your post too. Here's some narration ideas: http://simplycharlottemason.com/timesavers/narration/
  3. You're right- that's the fun part about Kindergarten, isn't it? I always feel guilty for not doing enough art with the kids- it can be so messy! I feel inspired to do more cutting, gluing and painting! Thanks Sydni for the links:)
  4. My oldest is in grade two this year. We LOVE math u see. Just started Spelling Power- love it so far. For reading time, she is reading Little House in the Big Woods and I just bought the Prairie Primer to go with it:) Every day just before reading time, we flip through the A Beka special sound cards for review (ex. "aught in caught" etc). We're just getting started with English for the Thoughtful Child and really loving that too! We're having so much fun this year:001_smile:
  5. I just got started with it a few weeks ago. It took a bit for me to read and figure out exactly how it works. Since we've actually got started, it's been great. My dd is not a good speller, and I'm very impressed with how she's remembering the new words that she has practiced. We keep a cookie sheet with cornmeal on it (as the book suggests) for her to draw her spelling words on. It's amazing how the tactile activities help them retain new information. I love the hands on approach. I like how they get the student to write the new word into a sentence that they make up- immediately after learning the word. It helps them to transfer the spelling word into their own world. So far, so good for us! :)
  6. I just downloaded the Charles and Mary Lamb ones today, burned them to disc and ready to start introducing my kids to Shakespeare! It was a free download : http://librivox.org/tales-from-shakespeare-by-charles-and-mary-lamb/ I found the link from this homeschool mom's site, lots of fun stuff!! : http://www.squidoo.com/shakespeareforchildren#module7857393
  7. My son is going to be 5 in February. He was an eager learner so I put him in Kindergarten already last Fall. I didn't want to push him and yet he begged to homeschool so I wanted something that be appropriate and challenging for him. I figured that we'd just take our time with it. It's worked well, he's kept right up with the lessons. When he's tired, I dismiss him to play the moment he shows signs that he's done. My older daughter is in grade two and he joins in lots of her lessons when they seem fun.
  8. Older one didn't, younger one did- or should I say does. He'll be officially Kindergarten age this fall. He's been in a learning environment so it was easier for him to pick up on learning them.
