  1. My dd would like to study life science next year, particularly Human Body. What curriculum have you used for life science? Thanks!
  2. What are your top 5 must reads for Ancient Egypt? What are your top 5 must reads for Ancient Rome? What are your top 5 must reads for Ancient Greece? I will have a 3rd grader and a 1st grader. Thank you!
  3. We own Beethoven Lives Upstairs, Vivaldi's Ring of Mystery and Tschaikowsky Discovers America. We like all of them, but Vivaldi is the one we choose the most. We borrowed Mozart's Magic Fantasy from the library, and we liked it so much that I plan on buying it. HTH
  4. How horrible! Maybe parents should be with their little boys when they get that done.... Both my sons are uncircumcised. I don't feel I should decide whether or not they should be or not. When they are old enough and choose to be circumcised for their own personal reasons, they can go ahead and do that. But I don't believe in doing that to a baby.
  5. I will have a 3rd grader and 1st grader in the coming school year, and I pretty much have the year figured out. Except I can't decide if I want to do American History AND Ancient History at the same time. :)
  6. I'm going to use WP American Story 1 this coming school year and I'm trying to find a used guide, so far I haven't had much luck..but anyway, I would really appreciated if someone that uses this now, could tell me the order of the books for the first few weeks. Thanks! :)
  7. I'm sorry, I thought I was starting a new post:blushing
  8. I was looking at this and I think I really like the idea of starting at the very beginning in history. I'm wondering if I should do a seperate bible program though, if I ended up going with the SCM guide. It already would cover bible, wouldn't it? If you've use it, how do you like? Pros and Cons? TIA
  9. My dd7 is in 2nd grade and she is doing language lessons for the very young, the first book. She is going through it very fast. I know that Charlotte Mason was all about short lessons, but this seems too short for my dd. I usually give her 3 or 4 lessons out of the book to do, and usually she finishes between 5 and 10 minutes, if that. As much as I like that includes poetry and picture study, I think I need to look at different programs for 3rd grade. What does your 3rd grader use?
  10. Has anyone ever tried this? My kids will be in 3rd and 1st next year. I had planned on doing just American History for the next 2 years. But I love history so much, I would love to also do World History alongside of it, starting with ancient times. Is it doable? What were your experiences, if you have done this before? What did your history schedule look like? Would it be too much to do both?
  11. Great pictures! I used to have that bookshelve in black-brown and I gave it away because I couldn't find a good place for it when we lived in our old house. I could kick myself now for doing that....
  12. I'm looking for one that is already laid out. Thanks for the bump :)
  13. The tray sounds great, but I'm thinking something a little simpler and less preparation. I'm planning on going to our thrift store on Monday to try to find some teacups and and saucer and a teapot. I'm going to try to find some hats and gloves and pearl necklaces for dress up too.
  14. Great idea to make a garland crown, although it does remind me more of a fairy kind of theme. I'm definitely doing flowers :)
  15. .....throw a tea party for kids? i'm thinking of doing this for my dd's 8th birthday, coming up in february. i need some ideas on a party craft and a some games. how should i decorate? i would really appreciate some help with this. :)
  16. Those are great ideas! Thank you both :) Does anyone else have any suggestions?
