  1. I can’t give any details but today I witnessed a person unload a barrel full of family and personal information onto someone else, and, as it came tumbling out, there was so much spin, self preservation, cherry picking details to make themselves look good, exaggeration, fabrication, and much more.

I drove all the way home with my face like this 😱

I could SEE it. The narcissism. If I ever doubted it was there before, I never will again.

Dang. I just need a minute.

  2. 360.00 per year is a good deal….but….and this is just my opinion. ….and I haven’t read other replies.

I have a great vet. I am amazed at the level of care she has received. My cat has to be sedated and groomed as you can not come near her with a brush. She is a Persian. Sometimes she is beginning to badly mat right as it is time for her next shave. My vet will sedate her and give her a lion cut as best as she can, without having grooming skills. Shes gotten quite good at it after having given one to my kitty several times. They block off a large chunk of time for her and do everything to her she needs while she is sedated, including nail trim, shave, bloodwork, vaccinations, dental check (or even a teeth cleaning) and ear check, and more. Sadly, it’s not 360.00 per year. It’s quite a bit more. There is no other way to groom her, and no other vets would do this. They all said to see a groomer. Well, she can’t be groomed without being sedated, and groomers don’t sedate……so

I am grateful she will do this for me.

And….her eye developed a lesion common in Persian cats and this doctor got her in to a specialist who literally saved her eye. Left untreated, her eye would have needed removing if it hadn’t already literally burst like a squished grape first. Well, that was $$$$$, but I’m grateful. I had no idea these specialists existed in our area and can do the things they can do.

Maybe I would go small clinic for routine things in a healthy animal, but in my case, I seem to have acquired a cat who needs much specialized care, and it gives me peace to know that she gets such great care.

I just have resigned myself to budgeting each month enough money to set aside for her care.

This practice is ran differently. There is no huge, crowded waiting room. She doesn’t overbook and book tightly. She sees fewer pets each day, and her office and exam rooms are very calm and relaxing. She uses Feliway, has soft elevator music playing, and lots of treats and toys in the room. There is a room for cats only, so cats don’t have to be in a room with dog smells to scare them half to death. I usually walk straight into an exam room when I arrive.

I have grown so accustomed to this level of care that I can’t go back. I’m just fortunate and grateful that I can budget for it. My cats well being would have suffered greatly had we not been able to.

This is getting long. Sorry. I’m saying all this because we are in the same area, so you could give her a try if you wanted. It’s Passionate Paws. One location near New Town Rd. at Publix, and one near Francis Beatty park.

  3. @Scarlettwow, they are similar. Pillow didn’t pick up all that waking up for me. I changed bands a few days ago. This band is tighter. Maybe that would make a difference.

Getting the 8 hours helps to compensate for all the waking up, but usually it’s around 7. I was tired from being up the night before, lol. No alarms or dogs last night, thank goodness.

  4. Note: If I feed my cat wet food, she just licks the juice off the top and doesn’t eat any of the food. She will starve herself. In fact, she had gotten down to an unhealthy weight at her last visit because she wasn’t too crazy about her prescription food. I couldn’t tell because she had so much fur, and she has always been tiny anyway. So, now she is on a different prescription food. It has better ingredients, supposedly an appetite trigger, and is more calorie dense. So far, she loves it and she is already getting heavier.

One leaves a single piece of dry food in the water dish when we aren't looking; I have my suspicions who the naughty one is, but no proof.

Ok, what is the purpose of that? My cat wants to know. 🙃

Yep, cats are the best. I wish I had more years left than I do so I could have more. But it is now SO expensive to own a pet! Still, I want all the cats. 🐈 🐱

  6. Only keeping what we use.

Keeping an Amazon list each month of things that we may need or want, but waiting until the end of the month to order. Before ordering, I rethink the items and weed out what isn’t as important or urgent to buy as I thought. I only order the most needed items, and if the budget gets used up, I move items to next month. Repeat the whole process.

Finally, in the last few years, telling myself that I will take charge of myself and my happiness and not leave it up to others. This may mean new or different boundaries, standing up for myself, going on “adventures” alone (park, outings, small treats). This means, not to sound so much like “pop psychology” as some say, putting the wounded child inside first and foremost so that “child” knows that “someone” is in charge of no longer letting her be unfairly hurt or disrespected. This means making major changes such as leaving a church, changing accountants, allowing certain relationships to grow distant, etc. By George, it is working.

Cutting up lots of fruit and putting in fridge for later. Making huge Instant Pot full of beans to last several days. Steaming two huge bags of fresh kale and freezing some.

Staying hydrated by using lots of quick “soup”. Use the bean broth (cook beans with lots of water) and add rice, onion, kale, etc. to a bowl of beans with lots salted bean broth. Cheap, no sugar way to hydrate, and it has protein.

Exactly what are you using on your Apple Watch.  I know you say you are using it.  Can you screenshot it so I can see.  I'm in.

Go to your watch app and scroll down to sleep. Tap sleep and choose “track my sleep”. Go to the health app, tap browse at the bottom, and choose sleep. You may need to set up a sleep schedule, but I think it will track your sleep regardless. Each day, you should be able to go into “sleep” in your health app and see the data for each day.

  8. Just for fun?

If so, we could screenshot our results? No formalities, just do it once, or do it more often, or whatever?

It would be interesting to me what yours looks like. Many of us have Apple Watch, and that’s free. Or if you have an app that you like, use that.

Does anyone want to? I’ll post mine if so.

Just for fun. No stressing over it or anything.

If you think it would create stress, of course you don’t need to do it.

Or if it’s just another one of my dumb ideas, lol, …….then nvm!

@Indigo Blue just wanted to let you know that Kaleigh posted that Stella died today.  😞  She posted earlier today on Instagram that she took her to the emergency vet and just updated that Stella didn't make it.  @alisoncooks I'm tagging you too in case you don't see it on VF.

Thanks, Kassia. I didn’t know. She must be so very heartbroken. 😔 Poor Stella.

There are several YouTube animals that I have been loosely keeping up with. One of them is Billie, the amazing cat that uses all those buttons. She is in the end stages of renal disease, but she is doing okay for now.
