    🤷‍♀️  Everybody needs a hobby.

It's chilly here. I am wearing a sweater over my sweater. But Sfork, the snow has not gotten here yet. Do we have a tracking number?

I have a hobby, which is why I wasn't here much.

No actual tracking number but it's not here either. All that stuff on TV is within a couple miles of us but somehow we're not included. The kids are bummed.

  2. I hesitate to post because I'm not sure how much help I'll be. We also use R&S for science per my oldest's request. I wouldn't know what to suggest you add because we just regularly discuss the difference when these topics come up. I did contact multiple Christian science publishers a couple of years ago and asked for a preview of their section on Darwin and I thought Berean Builders did the best job of explaining. My current plan is to switch to BB when Oldest starts highschool. Something you could do is maybe write down a set of specific questions that you and your child can research answers to for both. Example: when does time begin? Look up the creationist vs evolutionist viewpoint. This way when you're done, the answers can be compared side by side. Then you can discuss why people believe what they believe and when these ideas originated ect.

Yay!  Ds18 and dd16 had sandwiches and hot chocolate at Panera and then "hiked" the 7-1/2 miles back home.  Only one hike left to complete the merit badge.  A 20-miler.  Dd16 bought me a violet and blueberry jam on the way home.  Peace offering, I think.  😊

So cool!  Where is Sea World?

Florida! I went when I was little and still remember it to this day. So fun.

I’m partial to Jacobs. So option 2.

That's interesting because I've heard sooo much about how good Foerster is, but I had no idea Jacob's had anything other than Geometry until last week. I really like the looks of Jacob's Geometry, though, so stands to reason I should investigate their Algebra program.

I'm thinking forward to highschool math because of course I like to have a plan even if it's not one written in concrete. I just feel better having an idea of where I think we're headed.

Anyway, I'm looking at 2 separate possibilities:

    1. From Rainbow Resource: Foersters Algebra 1 (Prentice Hall hardcover), Jacob's Geometry (MFW hardcover edition), Foersters Algebra 2 (Prentice Hall hardcover)

    2. From Masterbooks: Jacob's Elementary Algebra, Jacob's Geometry, and Algebra 2

I don't know if we'll get to calculus or not and for all I know, we may start this sooner than highschool. But I'm more interested in which path to take than the grade in which we will begin.

Opinions? I don't want to post over in the HS forum with zoldedt only being in 6th grade right now.

Oh no! It's an EdPo Booyah. 🤦

You can also request the samples, free of charge, from the publisher; you just have to call them at (606) 522-4348. Request a scope and sequence at the same time.

I prefer the hard-copy samples and whatnot, because sometimes I want to hold something in my hand and look at it instead of scrolling on my computer. 🙂

Yes this! Thanks for reminding me Ellie. I keep the hard copy samples on hand, as well, but they aren't available for grades 7 & 8 which is why I mentioned looking at milestones website.

  7. I nearly fainted when I saw the price of butter today. But they actually had butter, unlike over the weekend. So I bought butter. And I put a box of butter in the freezer for Thanksgiving in case the stores are all out again next week because I am not making Thanksgiving dinner without butter. There. I feel a little better now. Thank you. Thank you very much.

    I'm off to Servie's.

This is not the fun kind of snow. It's not even sticking because the ground isn't frozen yet. This is the mixed with rain and possibly cause pneumonia variety. I'll let you know when the snow angel or snowball variety arrives.

And I hate to tell you this, but I like sportsball. I just don't have time to watch very often.

I gave up on guitar pretty fast (and took up ukulele) but if I had to do it again I'd get a Very Small Guitar that might fit my hands better.

Or the youth model that I think is only 3/4 the size of a standard guitar. I looked into the possibilty for Oldest a couple years ago, but he lost interest. I'm glad because it's already hard keeping his little brothers out of his room. Add a guitar and I'm doomed. Guitars are magnets for my little ones!
