  1. Well my memory is probably faulty on how she worded her post, but I assume she was posting the info in a manner that everyone, including the international posters, could understand. Basically, that while he didn't get a top score, he still did okay. Or perhaps she said 80%, and I remembered it incorrectly. Addressing the other person who doubted my story (I'm on my phone and can't remember who), I'm not making this up, and although I don't know Julie irl, it didn't sound as if she was making it up either. But I realize it doesn't track with the WTM forum mind set, so I shouldn't have mentioned it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. I used to be part of the Living Math Yahoo Group. The owner of the group and website, Julie Brennan, posted about tutoring a young man to catch up. He was 20 years old, and was unschooled, but with no math knowledge other than making change. He wanted to go to college. He was able to speak Chinese fluently, so he had some benefits to his schooling. She said she tutored him once a week, and he did Kahn Academy the rest of the week. I can't remember how long they did this, perhaps six months. He took the SAT and got a B on the math portion. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I have sensitive, breakout prone skin and I like Neutrogena Pure & Free for my face. For my body, anything fragrance free as I'm allergic to chemical fragrance. I like mineral better, but it does leave a white cast. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I was also disappointed in Rory. I think things are coming full circle, and Logan is her Christopher and Jess is her Luke. However, I don't really want to see the same story played out again. I realize there will be some differences, but the same story is depressing. What bugged me is Amy Sherman Palladino ignoring Season 7, except for things she couldn't ignore, like Lane's kids. Lorelai not remembering a good memory of her father didn't make sense after that touching speech he made at Rory's going away party in the Season 7 finale. What happened with Logan getting away from his father, and working in San Francisco? I was hoping Zach and Lane would have been more successful with their music, but his gig with the famous band was never mentioned. Rory's time on the Obama campaign was also never mentioned. I thought she would be more successful also. Lorelai and Luke were communicating at the end of Season 7, and now suddenly they don't talk? It's like you should go straight from Season 6 to Season 7, and you're still waiting on the characters to grow up. The problem is that I did watch Season 7, and it's nine years later. They should have matured by now. I know they need drama, but I think they could have come up with something better. However, my expectations were low, and I enjoyed it overall. Although, count me in as one who wishes there had been less musical and more Lane/Mrs. Kim.
  5. I added to my post that I saw you answered it below me. I think that religious people who believe it is a sin see it as dysfunctional, and harmful to the person and society. I was raised that it was a sin, and have evolved to believe that it is not a sin, and that people should have partners. It's hard to be alone, and no one should be discriminated against. However, I haven't quite gotten to the point that I think homosexuality is just as good for the person or society as being heterosexual. Rome wasn't built in a day, lol.
  6. I'm not sure this analogy works, at least comparing homosexuality to a medical condition. A medical condition such as overeating would be considered something to be cured, a negative to be overcome. It wouldn't be considered a sin, but it's also something the person desperately wants to change because it impacts their life negatively. I'm not sure that's how most here would define homosexuality, as a medical condition to be cured. ETA: I see you addressed this below. Posting at the same time I guess!
  7. I think there is additional tension when the spouses don't agree. You could have one spouse willing to accept the child's lifestyle, and one who won't. The accepting spouse is faced with the possibility of losing the closeness the family once had. So, it's not just losing the support of the faith community, there is the aspect of not wanting to lose the marriage either, assuming the spouse is an otherwise nice person, and just has conservative religious views. But yet the accepting spouse wants to support the child also.
  8. I can see this. I think there is a lot of pressure on young women today to look perfect, to be perfect. OTH, there is the danger of date rape. I think it takes a lot of pressure off to opt out for awhile, until they are more mature.
  9. I agree. And it probably does depend on where you live. Although, my evidence is all anecdotal, but I think it is more widespread than people realize.
  10. I agree. This article addresses the trend of being gender neutral. http://fortune.com/2015/06/29/gender-fluid-binary-companies/
  11. CeraVe has a lot of great products, and it's formulated for sensitive skin. I don't like jar packaging however, as any antioxidants in the product will disintegrate once exposed to air. The BHA should be okay, however. Paula's Choice has a 1% BHA Lotion, which is not as strong as the 2% versions. That might work for you. Here is Beautypedia's list of the best BHA products. http://www.paulaschoice.com/beautypedia-skin-care-reviews?N=4294966879+4294966904+4294965781&Ns=p_num_days_published|0
  12. You could try a subscription box. I subscribe to Ipsy, and I get five samples for $10 per month. They have skincare too, but you can choose makeup only in your profile choices, I believe. Wet n Wild is a very affordable drugstore brand, but surprisingly the quality of a lot of their products is good. Hard Candy has some good products also. The drugstore makeup companies have stepped up their game in the last few years. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. CeraVe has some really good products. PC's Beautypedia website rates them pretty highly. I forgot to mention that I also use Paula's Choice shampoo and conditioner. I've developed an allergy to fragrance, and need fragrance free. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. I think you can see results pretty quickly. The exfoliants get the oil and other substances out that can clog pores, which makes them look smaller. I also noticed a difference pretty quickly with Retin A, and I assume it would be similar with Retinol.
  15. Thanks, I didn't know that.
