Ugh, I would with a little one just to be safe but that's a tough decision.  How is he now?  Is he drinking?  Is he done vomiting?  If he perks up and is acting normal, I'd just keep an eye on him but I'd be worried about dehydration if he continues vomiting.  But always better to be safe than sorry, too.

ETA  Hope he is better very soon.

Thanks. He vomited about 4 times, but he is still asleep and not up for the day, so I’m not sure how he is feeling. He didn’t have a wet diaper during the night.

  2. We are in FL on vacation. We spent a hot day outside yesterday. The 1 year old was fine all day, but he vomited several times last night. I’m trying to decide if we should take him to urgent care. I see vomiting can be related to sun poisoning. What else should I be asking myself? Would you have him checked out?

The vet I work for would tell you to let him be at that age.  Just love him and if you notice any signs of pain or other issues to bring him in.

That’s good to know. I think they might have suggested the same, but after the appointment I noticed the paper had his age wrong. I told the lady he was born in 05, but somehow they had him down as 8 years old, so they must have thought he was in pretty rough shape.

If cats are like dogs, there might be a pill that can prolong his life… but I’ve never had a cat that easily took pills, so I wouldn’t do anything unless it seemed like he was in pain.

He doesn’t so far seem to be in pain. The past few years he has just spent his time eating and sleeping.

  5. I just found out my cat has a severe heart murmur. I took him to get vaccinations at a clinic where they just give a quick look at the animal. They just told me to follow up with a vet. The cat will be 20 this year. Is this probably just the end for him or should Iook into this? Anyone have any experience with this?

eta: He is turning 19 this year not 20. Not that it matters, I just got confused when we got him for a minute.

Our neighborhood is now plastered with posters with his picture very large.  I spoke to a number of our neighbors.  One of them speaks English (and knows who all of our cats are and their names.  She has a toddler.).

He has a chip with our number attached.  I've checked with the places he'd be likely to be taken to, based on geography.  But if he got hurt in a sewer, I'm not sure if he'd be found or who would even know.

I’ve had cats and a dog be gone for an extended time and they came back. There is still hope. Hold old is he?

    So many things

I am awful at parking.  Cannot pull into a spot if there are cars on either side.  No I am not parking out in the last stall because I am trying to get steps.  It is because I can't park.  My dream is a self parking car.

Directions.  I love the talking directions and could do a paper map.  But I navigate by landmarks not street names   I have lived in my city for almost 20 years  and I know the name of one street.  The one I live on.  And that is the only street name I know in the whole state.  Seriously. I have no clue of the street names of places I go everyday.

I can't knit or do anything crafty.  I just hate my  own work, but think everything other people make is stunning.

I can't learn a dance routine.  I can remember the first 2 steps and  then I am out.  How do I have all my kids who love to dance?

I can't do hair or makeup.

I can't organize things.  Or do any sort of interior design.

    I can't spell.

I can't listen to audio books.  Boring.

    I cannot listen to directions.

I cannot build Lego.  I find it so boring.  I mean I can do it, but I don't find it fun or enjoyable.

Same to ALL these except I’m ok at spelling, but not grammar or writing.

I am bad at helping in a kitchen, like when church ladies gather to put out a meal of some sort. I am fine if someone just sets me in a corner and assigns me to peel potatoes or something. But if I have to figure out what needs doing and do it, I am totally bewildered. I am in awe of all the useful people who scuttle about getting things done without any guidance whatsoever.

Oh me too. I was just at an event and I just played being busy with the baby because I was just blown away by how everyone just jumps in and gets stuff done.

You're not getting enough sleep is the short answer.  Your quality of sleep is so low that your brain is always on, listening for things and helping others.  Since there's no activity at that hour, your brain is creating it.

    Probably so.

I often hear the phone ringing in my sleep or when I'm in the shower when it isn't actually.

"Exploding head syndrome" is my new favorite go-to explanation for everything.

I do this with shower, but it’s always that I think I hear the baby crying.

I slept walked and slept talked in full sentences in my early 20s during a high stress time of my life.  As in one of my closest friends had been murdered.

I still sleep talk a lot.  And I dream like I am insane.

So my guess is just high stress.  Being a mother to many I would say would put you in that category.

Well…actually I’m not really feeling very stressed these days at all. I was definitely stressed out in my early days of motherhood, but I’m in a pretty good place right now.

There is a thing called exploding head syndrome where you wake up to a loud noise that is in your head.

That said, that you say you never dream coupled with finding yourself at the front door makes me think you might have a sleep disorder.

Like what? Since I’m not getting deep sleep enough to dream? If so, I’d say that I’ve been night nursing/co-sleeping since 2011. lol

  13. I almost never ever dream unless I’m first trimester pregnant. Recently I have been waking up hearing knocking. I know it isn’t really happening because the dogs would be barking even if it were the kids or something. So, I know it’s happening in my head. Last night I found myself standing at the front door. It was kind of scary to me because like I said I don’t do anything in my sleep not even dream. It’s SO weird. Has this ever happened to you?

What kind of bear?  black bear, usually aren't an issue. . . .
    Grizzly - no freaking way.

Came to say the same. Black bears are no big deal.

  15. I private messaged Ann a few months back or so. She is doing well. She just hadn’t been on in a while. Yes, I think my boy and the twins were born maybe the same week or so. He’s such a joy. He’s in one of my favorite stages! I’m enjoying most every moment. It’s hilarious the things he gets into. All 6 of us can be watching and he still manages to get into mischief constantly. lol Just recently he threw an old flip phone that my girls play pretend with into our toilet and one of the kids flushed it. It clogged everything up. Dh had to take the whole toilet off to get it out. The other 4 never did stuff this crazy. He throws and kicks everything. I think we may have an athlete in our not athletic family. He loves playing outside. When I bring him in he gets SO mad and screams and cries, but generally he is such a calm toddler as far as crying and screaming. He’s always into something, but he is calm. On his first birthday, his favorite part was when we sang happy birthday. His face lit up and he looked so proud. He didn’t care much for his cake, but he dipped his finger in and fed it to dh and dd. It was so sweet. He gives the tightest hugs and the sweetest kisses. He adores our Australian Shepherd and gives her hugs. That’s all for now because he finished eating and needs a bath.

ETA I keep thinking of cute things. He’s sitting through #4’s phonics lessons so when he holds a book he points to the words and makes the t sound. lol

I am angry about six year old Bluey riding in the front seat and the idea of happy endings being that nothing changes. I think a lot of kids struggle with necessary changes…to their families, their friends, their schools.  Lots of things in life and maybe especially in childhood are transient.  And so to spend all that time and energy on buildup and then to go, “Oh, no, never mind.  We just won’t do it,” at the very last moment is going to devastate a lot of little kids when there’s no last minute reprieve from changes in their lives.

Oh yeah, my short 12 year old was outraged by Bluey in the front seat. lol
