I also have kids ridiculously sensitive to the heat and sun even when it's not super hot.   I'm glad your son is doing better. At that age of they weren't still breastfeeding I would probably err on the side of going in especially without diapers but not necessarily in sleep as at that age my kids definitely held it during sleep.

Yeah, several of mine (including this one stays dry until morning, but not always)

I would see how he is this morning. Is he acting normally? Is he drinking and peeing okay? Did he complain of anything or act abnormally last night before bed?

Sun poisoning is the result of a severe sunburn. Does he have a bad sunburn with blistering? If so I would lean towards urgent care with vomiting. If he was well protected and hydrated, I would probably just continue to hydrate and only take him In if there were signs of dehydration. If he’s lethargic, not peeing, continues to vomit during the day, is hot to the touch, confused at any time, I would go to the ED and not urgent care.

Thanks I was hoping you would weigh in. He is not severely sunburned or blistered. We went to the the beach and such and he wore a rash guard and sunscreen the day before. He may be a bit pink, but not severe. Yesterdays plan ended up being lunch and then the aquarium. Lunch ended up being outside and covered, but a long hot wait. The aquarium was hot and had outside parts. I wasn’t expecting any of that so no sunscreen. He sweated a lot and was acting normal all day.

Ugh, I would with a little one just to be safe but that's a tough decision.  How is he now?  Is he drinking?  Is he done vomiting?  If he perks up and is acting normal, I'd just keep an eye on him but I'd be worried about dehydration if he continues vomiting.  But always better to be safe than sorry, too.

ETA  Hope he is better very soon.

Thanks. He vomited about 4 times, but he is still asleep and not up for the day, so I’m not sure how he is feeling. He didn’t have a wet diaper during the night.

  4. We are in FL on vacation. We spent a hot day outside yesterday. The 1 year old was fine all day, but he vomited several times last night. I’m trying to decide if we should take him to urgent care. I see vomiting can be related to sun poisoning. What else should I be asking myself? Would you have him checked out?

The vet I work for would tell you to let him be at that age.  Just love him and if you notice any signs of pain or other issues to bring him in.

That’s good to know. I think they might have suggested the same, but after the appointment I noticed the paper had his age wrong. I told the lady he was born in 05, but somehow they had him down as 8 years old, so they must have thought he was in pretty rough shape.

If cats are like dogs, there might be a pill that can prolong his life… but I’ve never had a cat that easily took pills, so I wouldn’t do anything unless it seemed like he was in pain.

He doesn’t so far seem to be in pain. The past few years he has just spent his time eating and sleeping.

  7. I just found out my cat has a severe heart murmur. I took him to get vaccinations at a clinic where they just give a quick look at the animal. They just told me to follow up with a vet. The cat will be 20 this year. Is this probably just the end for him or should Iook into this? Anyone have any experience with this?

eta: He is turning 19 this year not 20. Not that it matters, I just got confused when we got him for a minute.

Our neighborhood is now plastered with posters with his picture very large.  I spoke to a number of our neighbors.  One of them speaks English (and knows who all of our cats are and their names.  She has a toddler.).

He has a chip with our number attached.  I've checked with the places he'd be likely to be taken to, based on geography.  But if he got hurt in a sewer, I'm not sure if he'd be found or who would even know.

I’ve had cats and a dog be gone for an extended time and they came back. There is still hope. Hold old is he?

    So many things

I am awful at parking.  Cannot pull into a spot if there are cars on either side.  No I am not parking out in the last stall because I am trying to get steps.  It is because I can't park.  My dream is a self parking car.

Directions.  I love the talking directions and could do a paper map.  But I navigate by landmarks not street names   I have lived in my city for almost 20 years  and I know the name of one street.  The one I live on.  And that is the only street name I know in the whole state.  Seriously. I have no clue of the street names of places I go everyday.

I can't knit or do anything crafty.  I just hate my  own work, but think everything other people make is stunning.

I can't learn a dance routine.  I can remember the first 2 steps and  then I am out.  How do I have all my kids who love to dance?

I can't do hair or makeup.

I can't organize things.  Or do any sort of interior design.

    I can't spell.

I can't listen to audio books.  Boring.

    I cannot listen to directions.

I cannot build Lego.  I find it so boring.  I mean I can do it, but I don't find it fun or enjoyable.

Same to ALL these except I’m ok at spelling, but not grammar or writing.

I am bad at helping in a kitchen, like when church ladies gather to put out a meal of some sort. I am fine if someone just sets me in a corner and assigns me to peel potatoes or something. But if I have to figure out what needs doing and do it, I am totally bewildered. I am in awe of all the useful people who scuttle about getting things done without any guidance whatsoever.

Oh me too. I was just at an event and I just played being busy with the baby because I was just blown away by how everyone just jumps in and gets stuff done.

You're not getting enough sleep is the short answer.  Your quality of sleep is so low that your brain is always on, listening for things and helping others.  Since there's no activity at that hour, your brain is creating it.

    Probably so.
