    Duck eggs

Right! I've been pondering the same thing but thought it might be the yolk. I might try separating then and offer DH yolk only to see if he has a reaction. Next I could try a "white" omelet. Thanks! It does make sense that more milk might be added which was already suggested. That does not seem to bother my dh as much.
  2. Yes, you are right. Waterproof pad. I used one for dd and it was a SMART move! Thanks for the reminder. I didn't know they were made for the car! Good idea! I just feel silly getting the "home care" kit when the mom to be is a medical student. Yes, I love the idea of a baby carrier. Also, a baby wrap. I had a sling and not a wrap for my dd. But, yes, I love that idea! Thanks!
  3. Oh that's so smart of you. I agree and never thought about the internet. When dd was a baby I used an audio monitor only. Thanks so much for the link!!

    Duck eggs

YES SCOUT! Thank you. Arcadia did say that in her first reply to me and just reread this post. So, that is why then. That makes sense. OK, I'm going to "test" a duck egg scrambled! I hate to waste them. This homeschool mom/egg seller (her name is actually April) just gave me these for free. She said she had so many and was just giving them away to people. Yes, I understand the fertilized egg thing. I dove head first into understanding the biology behind it several years ago. It's still just knowing. That's why when I'm looking for a new egg seller I always ask if they have only the "girls" or are they in mixed company. LOL! My former egg seller, a man, had the typical (I guess) low production during the winter months so I found another egg seller, April. I'm glad as she has the pretty whites, browns, blues, greens, tans, etc. I get them unwashed to preserve them. I would like to put out on counter but opted to put in frig. NOOOOOOOOOOO! LALALALA I didn't read that. So many of you are saying duck eggs are great for baking. I'll remember that. Will try a duck egg scrambled, boiled or both just to get an idea. Wish I would have posted this earlier because I just made dh's birthday cake last Wed.

    Duck eggs

LOL on me! I'm not getting why our whole, fresh eggs whipped to make scrambled eggs is different from above EXCEPT I don't use the extras next to it.

    Duck eggs

Oh wow! Interesting. I like Bob Evans. Many fond memories of the restaurant and dh, dd and I used to visit the "farm" when driving back to my home state of Ohio. I'm still not getting the concept. When I crack an egg open and whip it, it becomes liquified. ????

    Duck eggs

That's interesting. I really will keep my eyes open now to find an ingredient list for these eggs they offer in hotels.
  8. Right, that crossed my mind as well. OK, thanks! I do understand about the diapers. DD was a preemie and in the tiniest of them but they can run to pick up or have delivered. I do like the ideas you mentioned. Most new parents want to pick out the crib. And, if you're picky like my niece she was just as picky with carseat, stroller. Me? Eh, we received a nice, big baby shower and people were generous with their gifts. Didn't need to be top of the line. It worked out well. What is a good current baby monitor? What features?
  9. Yes! Carol, I pulled up organic crib sheets yesterday on Amazon. Thanks for the reminder! Like that!

    Duck eggs

YES! Thanks for that confirmation. If my memory is right, that's exactly what the woman told me. Do you like the taste?
  11. DH's nephew (his sister's son) and his wife are expecting their first baby. They live in DC area. We will not to going to a baby shower and likely not make a special trip to see this wee one. We haven't driven back to Ohio in 2 years and great nephew on my side was born last June. Anyway, I'm having a hard time thinking of a baby gift. At this point in time we do not know gender. Do not think there is a baby registry but will confirm that. Baby is due mid August/first Sept. She is approximately 20 weeks. Both parents work. I think the wife is a medical student but not certain. Need ideas. A little sleeper from Carter's. Sure. But, that is a small gift (I know it's the thought that counts) but feel like more is needed. Will not be "going in" with dh's 2 sisters to buy a big gift such as: stroller, crib, etc. Need something that we can perhaps order on Amazon and have it shipped to the parents-to-be. Suggestions? My sister went WAY over the top in buying for her grandbaby. Some of those "bigger" items were only used a handful of times. Thanks! Baby monitor Sleepers Pack and play (what are they called now)

    Duck eggs

Yes, they are a bit bigger. I wouldn't use for baking (yet) but thought I'd try duck scrambled eggs to see if he has a reaction. That explains the hotel eggs LOL! More milk to egg ratio. I might be bold to try that. Hmm. Taking the 1/3 egg and adding more milk. That's an idea to explore. Thanks! Right, I'm wondering what the egg product is in hotels. They don't fluff up like fresh eggs.
  13. So I found a woman (homeschooling mom) selling fresh chicken eggs. I picked up 1 1/2 dozen a couple of weeks ago. DH has developed a sensitivity to eggs over the last 4-5 years. We used to egg scrambled, poached. If he eats that now it lands him in bed - starts about 2-3 hours after he eats the eggs and he's out of it for 3-6 hours, sleeping, upset tummy. He CAN eat ABOUT the equivalent of 1/3 - 1/2 egg tops and I've found that the homemade crepes I make are the equivalent to 1/4-1/3 egg! He does fine. ANYWAY, that's why I'm buying more eggs. To make a large batch of crepe batter, divide and freeze. Just pulled one brick last night. Thawed overnight. Made crepes this Saturday morning. YUM! QUESTION - when I picked up the chicken eggs last time, this woman gave me 1/2 dozen duck eggs. I've never eaten duck eggs. For some reason I'm intimidated by it. WHY? How does it compare to the chicken egg? Taste, consistency. These eggs are not fertilized. I asked to be sure and they are unfertilized. On another note, dh can eat scrambled eggs at a hotel sometimes. Weird. Is that even real egg? Got me thinking if maybe it was the oil/butter brand used, cast iron skillet, etc.
  14. I'll be back (Arnold S) Others, but that's the first that comes to mind.
  15. Thank you so much for this. I will finish this up tomorrow then. Your advice has helped me quite a bit and expanded our menu! 🙂 YAY! Much appreciated!
  16. Thanks for that! I googled and one bit is to layer on a sheet first in the freezer. Then put in container. I just did one but that will be time consuming. Kinda undoes the whole point for "large batch" to save time when I'm spending the time to make several thin layers in the freezer. The said this to avoid clumpy quinoa. I made my quinoa yesterday and as I pulled it out it is drier in consistency than what I remember from times past. Do you take your quinoa from stove top to freezer immediately after cooling down? Has it ever clumped?
  17. YAY! I'm so excited because I will add to chicken salad, tuna salad, lettuce salad, soups and the list goes on. 🙂 How do you both freeze your cooked quinoa? In what container? Thanks so much. And, aaplank, thanks for the paste rec. I use fresh garlic and mince myself. YUM! Love garlic!
  18. 1. I learned how to use quinoa a little better now. I've always "tried" to use it but was not successful. I made chicken meatballs stuffed with mozarella. The recipe does not call for quinoa but I divided the meatball batch. In half I followed the recipe and in the other half with which to make meatballs I added just a bit of quinoa. My dh didn't even know and I feel it adds texture, flavor and is healthy! QUESTION - Since then I made a BIG batch of quinoa. I did so I would not have to make a lot of small batches. I made a larger batch to use in several recipes! HOWEVER ****** Can I freeze and pull out as needed? Will it get mushy? I don't know how long it would take for me to use up these 4 cups but "maybe" 2 months. 2. Beef tenderloin - what "paste" seasonings would you use on this roast? I only want the seasoning paste to enhance and not replace the beef taste. Thanks!
  19. I didn't read SWB reply until after I posted LOL. Yes, I remember Lisa W as well.
  20. Oh yes, type of heat, age of house, rural/city. Our house is beyond dusty. I will still have very few on tabletop because of the dusting issue but I think it's visually easy to see pictures on the wall. They are just there. On a wall.
  21. OK, did I miss your post showing a pic?
  22. That's good to know. Have you tried taking one of the magnets off of a wall? If so, how long was it up?
  23. That's cool! That would be suited better for a large room. ?? It's very similar in idea to what I show up top.
  24. Yes, I especially like the living room (various sizes and vertical/horizontal positions to break visual tension) and the yellow room. Cute idea!!
