  1. Right, they are so kind and not focused on money so I'd have to research. Thanks for that idea!
  2. Oh, no. The church carries this book and has many. I'd like to purchase 12 for the women in my ladies group. The book retails for $14, give or take. They are not interested in "making money" but want to bless others so they are willing to give me the books at no cost to me. Or, they said I can make a donation of whatever amount I choose. They don't want the money to stand in the way and that's why they said don't worry about making a donation even. But, I'd like to pay something. I just don't know what that is.
  3. I've completely switched from cassia (and, yes, I used to "hand zest" the hard cassia to the tune of wearing down a zester or two and buying new replacements) to the ceylon only. The cassia took me 30 min to yield what I need at that time. So, I switched because the true ceylon can't be beat and it's a 2nd winner b/c my grinder does the grinding in 30 seconds!
  4. Recently dh and I received a Christian-authored book. It is so good. I belong to a women's group and thought I'd purchase a book for each of the women. Knowing that sometimes there is a bulk discount (although 12 is a mini bulk lol), I asked and our church said they are complimentary, or I can make a donation. They don't care. The book retails for $14.99, I think. Knowing the above, what price would you recommend I purchase the book at x 12? Thanks!
  5. Ceylon Cinnamon is a small, evergreen tree native to Sri Lanka. I have used Cassia cinnamon for years and do not know how I just learned about Ceylon cinnamon in 2022 or 2023! I've ditched the cassia (except to maybe put the stick in tea). Will not buy cassia again. Started buying Ceylon and it's so much better because it's considered to be the "true" cinnamon. I bought a grinder for whole coffee beans and spices. I've been happily grinding the ceylon quills into powder! I use it now in my baked goods, yogurt, cereal and so much more! Question- 1. How on earth do you wash ceylon? The back of the package says to wash before use and I never have. Have you seen how the quills are harvested? You Tube it. Interesting. But, once when I wiped the quills with water only, they disintegrate. It's like baking with parchment paper and if heated to a certain point, the paper just crumbles as you ball it up to throw away.

    Duck eggs

LOL, Australian chook eggs (chicken eggs). Had to Google that one. I'm going to re-evaluate this whole thing with dh and try use a couple of the ideas here to see if it makes a difference.

Regular eggs? Chicken eggs? My husband can have NO more than equivalent to 1/3 - 1/2 egg per day. That 1/2 is even generous. As you can see it's not enough scrambled egg LOL. But each crepe comes out to 1/3 + but less than 1/2 and he does fine. Sorry to hear that about your husband. If my husband goes over his limit, he'll get sick about 2 hours later and he'll have to rest in bed for another 4 hours.
  8. I liked it too. The baby sling. But, I didn't wear it everywhere. Yes. We never had a front carrier but an actually backpack when dd was 10 months and older. We did and do light hiking. It's really not used that long b/c kids grow so fast and that 20 lbs at first year is replaced by more weight quickly. LOL!
  9. Yes, I'm trying to remember if I had that issue. I didn't use it all the time and don't think I "shopped" with dd in sling. But, that is a valid point you made and I appreciate it.
  10. Thanks for these ideas! Didn't think about the "sizing" of the wrap, sling, etc. I always thought they were adjustable. Don't know her size. So much to consider! I've seen those but didn't know what they were called. Good idea! Thanks!

    Duck eggs

Right. I like my scrambled eggs well done (dry). My uncle, when he was alive, liked his scrambled eggs slightly moist/wet. I've tried heating them longer and longer to see if that makes a difference. Will revisit that! 🙂 Thanks!

    Duck eggs

I know that would normally make sense and one I've considered back and forth but dh eats cereal and milk every work day M-F.
  13. Yes, pack and play is also on the list. I think that's a great idea. DH and I used one for dd when we traveled here and there.
  14. Yep, that's what I meant. 🙂

Right! I've been pondering the same thing but thought it might be the yolk. I might try separating then and offer DH yolk only to see if he has a reaction. Next I could try a "white" omelet. Thanks! It does make sense that more milk might be added which was already suggested. That does not seem to bother my dh as much.
  16. Yes, you are right. Waterproof pad. I used one for dd and it was a SMART move! Thanks for the reminder. I didn't know they were made for the car! Good idea! I just feel silly getting the "home care" kit when the mom to be is a medical student. Yes, I love the idea of a baby carrier. Also, a baby wrap. I had a sling and not a wrap for my dd. But, yes, I love that idea! Thanks!
  17. Oh that's so smart of you. I agree and never thought about the internet. When dd was a baby I used an audio monitor only. Thanks so much for the link!!

    Duck eggs

YES SCOUT! Thank you. Arcadia did say that in her first reply to me and just reread this post. So, that is why then. That makes sense. OK, I'm going to "test" a duck egg scrambled! I hate to waste them. This homeschool mom/egg seller (her name is actually April) just gave me these for free. She said she had so many and was just giving them away to people. Yes, I understand the fertilized egg thing. I dove head first into understanding the biology behind it several years ago. It's still just knowing. That's why when I'm looking for a new egg seller I always ask if they have only the "girls" or are they in mixed company. LOL! My former egg seller, a man, had the typical (I guess) low production during the winter months so I found another egg seller, April. I'm glad as she has the pretty whites, browns, blues, greens, tans, etc. I get them unwashed to preserve them. I would like to put out on counter but opted to put in frig. NOOOOOOOOOOO! LALALALA I didn't read that. So many of you are saying duck eggs are great for baking. I'll remember that. Will try a duck egg scrambled, boiled or both just to get an idea. Wish I would have posted this earlier because I just made dh's birthday cake last Wed.

    Duck eggs

LOL on me! I'm not getting why our whole, fresh eggs whipped to make scrambled eggs is different from above EXCEPT I don't use the extras next to it.

    Duck eggs

Oh wow! Interesting. I like Bob Evans. Many fond memories of the restaurant and dh, dd and I used to visit the "farm" when driving back to my home state of Ohio. I'm still not getting the concept. When I crack an egg open and whip it, it becomes liquified. ????

    Duck eggs

That's interesting. I really will keep my eyes open now to find an ingredient list for these eggs they offer in hotels.
  22. Right, that crossed my mind as well. OK, thanks! I do understand about the diapers. DD was a preemie and in the tiniest of them but they can run to pick up or have delivered. I do like the ideas you mentioned. Most new parents want to pick out the crib. And, if you're picky like my niece she was just as picky with carseat, stroller. Me? Eh, we received a nice, big baby shower and people were generous with their gifts. Didn't need to be top of the line. It worked out well. What is a good current baby monitor? What features?
  23. Yes! Carol, I pulled up organic crib sheets yesterday on Amazon. Thanks for the reminder! Like that!

    Duck eggs

YES! Thanks for that confirmation. If my memory is right, that's exactly what the woman told me. Do you like the taste?
  25. DH's nephew (his sister's son) and his wife are expecting their first baby. They live in DC area. We will not to going to a baby shower and likely not make a special trip to see this wee one. We haven't driven back to Ohio in 2 years and great nephew on my side was born last June. Anyway, I'm having a hard time thinking of a baby gift. At this point in time we do not know gender. Do not think there is a baby registry but will confirm that. Baby is due mid August/first Sept. She is approximately 20 weeks. Both parents work. I think the wife is a medical student but not certain. Need ideas. A little sleeper from Carter's. Sure. But, that is a small gift (I know it's the thought that counts) but feel like more is needed. Will not be "going in" with dh's 2 sisters to buy a big gift such as: stroller, crib, etc. Need something that we can perhaps order on Amazon and have it shipped to the parents-to-be. Suggestions? My sister went WAY over the top in buying for her grandbaby. Some of those "bigger" items were only used a handful of times. Thanks! Baby monitor Sleepers Pack and play (what are they called now)
