We use Singapore. Before deciding on a math program, I checked out samples of Saxon and carefully read their catalog. I based my decision because their presentation would not work with my big girl's learning style. If I were the student, Saxon would work for me...I need the incremental approach. I am a very sequential learner. My big girl just "gets" math and doesn't need increments to guide her.

We are in SM 3a and I haven't pushed memorization of times tables due to her age. I have gently been working on addition/subtraction facts with her and it worked. I give her "weekly assignments", which are four or five pages I printed off and stapled together. They contain 'fun' exercises to work on math facts (ie. color by number). She has the week to work on the assignment so there's no pressure. She can work on as many pages as she wants on any given day during the week. It's just due by Friday.

I have two extreme talkers...:D
Big girl says it's because of asta's reason number one....so much going on in her head. One thing I do is give her lots of paper, crayons, glue, etc so she can create and draw what is going on. Her writing isn't very good yet so she gets too frustrated to write stuff down now.

Magic School Bus has all sorts of different books...chapter books, readers, picture books and videos.

MBTP is hit or miss...you like it or dislike it. We tried the 5-7 Habitat concept when my big girl was 3.5 and I had to seriously beef it up for her. They have samples on their website, make sure you check those out!

I clean our house daily in the main living areas and girl's bedrooms and bathroom. Our bedroom and master bath "suffers" the most!

I always think of some sort of liquor on the rocks when I hear that phrase. I don't drink alcohol at all so I could be completely off!

It probably varies between families but we never used the Internet links. When we wanted to dig deeper into a topic, I usually got more books about it.

I bought the Christian Kids Explore Earth Science and Astronony on amazon.com for $20.00. It is about 350 pages of lesson plans, activities, stuff to copy, etc. We are going to start it next month after Easter break and I am really excited about it!

I just put the free app on my iPad! Thanks!

I received my package last Friday. It took about seven days and I'm in NY. The practice books weren't included so I emailed them and got replacement books on Monday. Terrific customer service, IMO!

Please tell me my child is not the only one going around doing "splits" with their legs while saying: "I'm acute," or "I'm right," or (in a particularly unintelligent souring voice) I'm obtuse! :D

Good Monday morning to you all! I hope that you are alive, awake, alert, enthusiastic on this Monday! Where do you fall in that spectrum? I'm definitely alive, awake and mostly alert. I can't say that I've achieved enthusiastic status yet! :001_smile:
1. How was your weekend? Did you do anything special or fun?
2. What's on the menu for today?
3. Do you take a "spring break" or "Easter break" from school? If so, when?
4. If you don't follow a year-round school schedule, when will you be done with this "school year?" When will you start the next year's curriculum?
1. Our weekend was fun...my niece spent the weekend here!
2. We had eggs and hash browns for breakfast. Ham, hash browns (per request), and carrots for lunch. I am feeding four kids because I babysit two additional kiddos!
3. Yes, we follow the public school vacation schedule except we aren't taking Good Friday off.
4. We homeschool year round and we start the next level when we complete the current level.

I also keep plenty of resources/materials available and ready to go that are at different levels. Especially in the areas of her interest, which happens to be math and science. We all sorts of books, manipulatives, workbooks, etc. at various levels for her to use during school time or on her own.
Enjoy the ride cause it's FAST! :auto:

At least it's not about crock pots or returning shopping carts!
Ideas as to what "cask" could mean...

In the texting world. The context of the text is someone can't read all of their texts cause they dropped their phone and it's probably best to cask and that they will get a new phone Monday. This is in terms of communication between the two parties...they should "cask" since the texts aren't working properly.
I thought they meant "call" but I can't figure out how you could misspell call into cask.
