We did most work orally today so were done by 11!! We are taking Monday off too!:D

The extreme repetition was the downfall for us. It bored my dd to tears when we tried it years ago.

I voted somewhat important simply because I report to the state.

I'm pretty silly to think I can outsmart dd6.:tongue_smilie:

Our house was (is) never really child proof, I just watched the kids and made sure they didn't open cupboards, touch outlets, etc.
Get out a bunch of blankets and round up the chairs so they can make a fort and have pillows so they can hang out in the fort. Do you have crayons or can get a quick box? Print up a bunch of coloring pages. Large plastic bowls and spoons are fun to playing cooking with. Grab a few stuffed animals for "hide the animals" - like hide and seek but you hide the animals around for the kids to find (or anything can be hidden). Is the 3yo a little girl? Get a soft brush and a scrunchie and let her play beauty salon with your dd.
Just a few ideas...

I can think of songs and poems off the top of my head, faster than I can write them on paper. It's actually really weird and fun because the ideas just fly out of my head wildly, out of nowhere and I rarely have to revise them.
Once in high school, I wrote a full page synopsis of our OM problem in about five minutes (because writing it down took up the time!). The three other girls working on their poems (it was my idea to write a poem rather than just the regular description) either had a blank page or a couple of lines written.
I guess this is a talent but one I rarely discuss because I am shy about it (IRL). So all of you are the first to hear me talk about it!:D

We use both. Pants, jeans, underwear, socks, pajamas and shorts go into drawers. I hang all shirts up in the closet.

When do you think "behind" becomes more of a problem? At what age do you think being "behind" makes it difficult to catch up--either in content or mastery of an important subject?
Being behind would be a concern for me if my girls were headed to public school. I wouldn't want them behind their grade level upon entering ps.
OR...if I were going to hs through graduation, I wouldn't want them behind when I have to have them tested (mandatory) for reporting purposes.

I have OCD and it's annoying. But I refuse to medicate myself! :D
Best wishes on what you decide!

Well, that wasn't terrible at all for us. We lost power about 9:30pm and it was back on two hours later. When my big girl came into our bedroom at 4:30am, it was calm outside. I did a walk around our house and everything seems in place, nothing blew away. There is some flooding in the back but that is normal with heavy rains.
I thought it was going to be a lot worse because we were right in the hurricane's path in NY.

It's starting to pick up here and I'm in NY. The wind and rain are starting to come down. Thankfully we still have power but I have one candle lit in case it blacks out!

We went over to my parents' house to check on them and bring in stuff from the yard. I'm surprised at how many people around here still have stuff outside. BRING IN YOUR STUFF, or it will turn into missiles.
on!
Me too!! That was one of the first things I did this morning, bring in and secure stuff outside!!

In related news, JUST ths morning it dawned on me that I could also store extra water in my washing machine! Woot!
We fill up the bath tubs to ladel out water for toilet flushing.

I just realized we are right in the path of storm in NY. It will arrive later this evening.
Bummer we are going to miss the presentation of 4 different owl species at the nature center. I hope they postpone it instead of outright cancel it.
We are all prepared except I need to fill the bath tubs so we have water to flush the toilets.

We are suppose to get heavy rain, up to 60 mph winds and power outages. I jst finished preparing for the power outage this morning!

My mom was worried that I would never grow up because my bf was 4 years younger than me. I did. It will pass but in these times and days, enjoy the innocence.

Speaking of Dora, how can Backpack fit so much junk in it?

I couldn't pass up delicious wedding cake! Go and make the best of it!

Where do I start? Are there any easy changes I can make? A place for easy recipes? Can you tell me about bread making?
One tip:
Buy a 10lb bag of potatoes and make everything from them - mashed, shredded hashbrowns, home fries, scalloped potatoes, french fries, etc.
I also only bake cookies, I never buy boxed.
question re: posting protocol outside this board

I answer both. If it's one of the "what's your first grader doing this year?" threads, I'll answer without levels. If someone asks a question about a specific level of a certain program and it is a level we have worked through, I'll give my two cents.
What irks me, though it shouldn't but it does :tongue_smilie:, are the handful of posters (especially on the K-8 board) that always feel the need to mention that their K aged kiddo is doing some 1st grade work. The thread could be about puppies and rainbows and they still manage to slip in that their k'er is doing some first grade work. Sorry, please don't throw rocks at me for that one but it truly makes my eyes roll!
