Thinkwell, Derek Owens, or Chalkdust for geometry

Recommended Posts

I would love some input on the pros and cons of Thinkwell, Derek Owens, and Chalkdust for geometry. My dd is working through Foersters Algebra I, having also dipped in and out of AOPS Introduction to Algebra successfully. (We ultimately decided a traditional approach is best for us.) She hasn’t struggled at all with Foersters. We have the Math Without Borders videos, too, and she watches them (because I make her ðŸ˜) but truthfully doesn’t really need them. I’d like the best geometry available that doesn’t break the bank. Anybody have any insight into how these three stack up?

Only have experience with thinkwell geometry: wanted a get-it-done program that was online (because I’m travelling) and hopefully hands off for me. Scope seems fine and probably broader than other similar programs.

Issue, there are not detailed explainations for all the answers. Maybe we’re idiots but yes we do need those, I mean it’s not intuitive to us. For some, it’s just “wrong, correct answer is Câ€. I found I had to do the lesson myself to try and understand why we got something wrong. And I don’t want to study geometry. If you or kid are mathy and don’t mind, that’s fine. My friend uses and loves thinkwell. It didn’t work for us. We are doing unlock math for geometry now and answers are much more detailed.

Non experience with the other two programs.
