wintermom
That 70s tv shows thread reminded me of one of my favourite Canadian tv shows back in the day. Shorted to SCTV, it was a weekly highlight for my older brother and myself. John Candy, Andrea Martin, Martin Short, were superstars for me growing up, as well as the "Great White North" sketch. You can still watch them on youtube. I can't believe they weren't more censored as they are definitely not politically correct. I guess they weren't aired on CBC. Anyone else watch this hilarious series? Edited January 22, 2018 by tmoan
wintermom
According to Wiki, SCTV was aired in some places in the US. In the 80s it was even produced in my home town of Edmonton! Cool. Now if only Dan Aykroyd and Mike Meyers could have been around to join in the show.

wintermom
We have the whole series on dvd. We get it out every Christmas for the Busty Heart segment. That type of comedy can’t be beat, it’s a shame there’s not much around of that quality. The entire cast was amazing. I want the dvd set!!!!!! Now I need to go search for the Busty Heart segment. :leaving: Did that involved Catherine O'Hara? Remember the giant shoulder pads she'd pull off? umsami
Yes, I loved SCTV. Lived in Michigan, so used to watch it regularly. We had the Bob & Doug "Strange Brew" movie on VCR. Also had an album of theirs with the 12 beers of Christmas or some such thing. There was also a video show called "Good Rockin' Tonight" that I watched because we didn't have cable. :) Edited January 22, 2018 by umsami
