Good afternoon, all!

Today's theme stems from the fact that I completely forgot to open the Lounge today as I was focused on getting us out of the door for our zoo field trip. Okay, not entirely true as I putzed around on Facebook for at least 30 minutes but the point is I still forgot. Now we are home. And I'm opening the Lounge for what is left for the rest of the day.

What have you been up to today? Here: went to one of the two local zoos. We were glad we went (got in for $5.00 each, which is amazing!) and boy, are we tired! We didn't even see everything as we were only there for about 3 hours. We had fun, though. It was neat to see my kids enjoy the zoo in their teens. Definitely a different perspective from when they were younger.

What's on the docket for the rest of the day/week? Here: tonight I'll probably meet some friends to work on our novels (yes, continued from NaNoWriMo), tomorrow morning, I think I'll let us recuperate. This week, however, I definitely need to push my dd on Chem because she's ALMOST done!  :hurray: Just a lesson or two left before the final and she can cross that off her list! Plus, two Christmas parties this week, and my dh has play rehearsal.

What's one of your favorite field trip memories? Here: today may count as one, only because of my kids being actually old enough to enjoy the animals from a different perspective.

Talk to me! :bigear:

This is the last week of my first session of homeschool science classes.   I taught a class today and already got two registrations for my next session starting in January.   :thumbup1:

After class I had a phone call with a company my cousin works for that is looking for a STEM coordinator to handle an afterschool program they want to do.  I'll probably interview with them next week.  Super part-time since it's once every other or even every third week.  Won't interfere with my classes since it's afterschool and mine are homeschool daytime classes.

Then I had to email back and forth with my old job about a couple of freelance assignments.  One that I need to do before Wednesday and one that will probably be ongoing in dribs and drabs over the next few weeks.

Then taking the kids to TKD and we were going to go to pageant practice but it was cancelled at the last minute due to a special service.

Then I had to run to Walmart to pick up some materials for a workshop I'm running tomorrow.

For the rest of this week - Open House and Workshop tomorrow, then two classes on Thursday finishes up my Fall session of science classes.  I'll work on my two freelance assignments, take the kids to pageant practice every night and TKD Wednesday and Friday, my moms birthday is Friday, then pageant is Saturday followed by lunch with my dad and stepmom.

Favorite field trip is a hard one.    I like visiting NYC, especially the Museum of Natural History.  I loved it when we visited Cherry Springs State Park and went star-gazing, but that was a camping vacation so I don't know if that should count as a field trip.    We went to the Gateway National Recreation Area a few years ago on my birthday.  That was a lot of fun - science, history, and swimming in the ocean.   We have an insect museum not far from us that's always a lot of fun.

ETA:  I was a docent at a local zoo for over 10 years, including serving on the docent board.  I'm sad to say I've only been there twice with my younger kids.  I've actually been to zoos farther away more than I've been to this one 30 minutes from home.  It's definitely on my list for the Spring.

Retired, but I can't resist posting our favorite field trip memory: watching a case tried at the Supreme Court.

It was incredible. We kept checking for the decision to come out, and the justices agreed w/ us and ruled for the side we thought should win. We had no horse in the race, just knew a friend whose friend who got us in.
