AP Calculus Practice Tests

Recommended Posts

My DS12 just used these from CollegeBoard for practice for FRQ. He did two years, 2015 and 2016. He use Barron’s to practice for the MCQ section. He did calculus using the AoPS calculus book and online class. He took the exam in May 2017.

Just a bit of a correction—L’hopital has been on BC for many years. (Maybe always?) it was just added to AB in 2017.

CollegeBoard added L’hopital rule for Calculus BC in 2017. Otherwise there isn’t significant changes between 2016 and 2017.

My kid had the most benefit from reading through the Student Performance Q&A as well as the Samples & Commentary after he did the two sets (2015 & 2016) under timed conditions.

He read through the questions and solutions in the 2012 practice exam (MCQ and FRQ with answer key and scoring guidelines) but did not have the time to do that paper. https://apcentral.collegeboard.org/pdf/ap-calculus-bc-practice-exam-2012.pdf

Those documents gave him a very good idea of what the grader is looking for and how to maximize his points. He expected a 4 and got a 5. My younger boy won’t be taking next year so I get a break from calculus test prep :)

My kid said he did need to use his TI84 calculator for the exam.

My kids use "Be Prepared for the AP Calculus Exam" https://www.amazon.com/Be-Prepared-AP-Calculus-Exam/dp/0982477554

If you get your syllabus approved by the College Board, you will have access to a lot of additional free practice material. (PM me if you would like a copy of my approved syllabus to submit.)

Thanks, Snowbeltmom! Now that you mention it, I may have bought the book you linked already because I had originally planned for my dd to take Sue Gilleran's class. Thanks for the syllabus offer. PMing you.
