Accountability Thread: 10/1-10/7

Recommended Posts

Good Morning. I still have a lingering cold, and lingering cold medicine. I almost typed Accountability Threat. And almost left it.

Today I plan to deal with my hangover with copious amounts of caffeine, work on the grocery list, cook something and edit for most of the day. I was a good girl and worked on the school schedule last night before I did Nyquil shots. According to that plan, October days will all have six subjects, with two hours being devoted to either drawing or painting on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I'm supposed to go to the library after Art on Tuesday. We will be doing creative writing for the six weeks of art classes, because I can schedule it three days a week instead of four. Geography gets moved to once a day on Fridays.

We are supposed to read The Legend of Sleepy Hollow this week.  I may just move Poe up in the schedule for October.

I'm hoping to get DD4 finished with the review (for her) section of Blend Phonics this week. We do 1/4 of a lesson a day. She is happy, right now, at this pace.

Do some Bedtime Math book/Ray's/Counting, Add,Sub songs CD, maybe.

Daddy is reading "The Wizard of Oz" at bedtime.

Continue to go through "Core Knowledge" Kindergarten

Lots of read aloud's

Audio books during craft's or play.

DD's friends birthday party is this afternoon after church. I revised DS9's math plan and I am very happy with it for the first time in over a year. We are going to do 2-3 word problems from the Cleo Borac competition math books (starting with just the grade 1/2 set to reduce anxiety) followed by 6 sheets from a set I drew together from Kumon and the later Key to.. Books. The first four we will do buddy style which will make him very happy (and mean it is only really two sheets) and I'm pretty sure the second two will be easy and somewhat fun. I hope it works out.

Other kids are same plan through the first three weeks of October and then I need to pack up everything and head to my parents house for some Florida sunshine!

Hi all! We took last week off and Monday starts our second quarter. We are changing things up a bit and I need some accountability to help get things rolling. We spent our first quarter doing Brave Writer things for our language arts and it was a nice change but the kids still prefer the WTM style, so we are going back to that.

I spent the morning getting all their stuff set up and ready to go. I need to sit down and write out the plan for this week. Also need to give the kids their new chore assignments for the month, get our Halloween decorations put up, a little cleaning and make dinner. I better go get busy!

I just want to put my pjs on (yeah, it's only 4:30, so what!) and sit around and wait for DH to grill my tbone.

Oh yes! I'm right there too and it's not even 1 yet here. If I survive DD's party, I'm changing into my pj's and taking a nap!

Basically ask of my house is still a disaster and the girls will be coming in a hour..

Good morning. I'm still battling this confounded cold. Today is day 6 and I am well past tired of it.

Today's schedule:

French-lesson 4, vocab, dialogue

Latin-continue lesson 20, workbook, grammar cards

Math-lesson 7, 1 page KTM

Writing-CW Week 3, exercise, new spelling words from literature, KISS grammar exercise

Literature- Legend of Sleepy Hollow, pre-grammar, grammar and some vocabulary

Science/History-Measuring Matter/Rome Revived, questions/narration

For me: mostly coughing, sneezing and trying to talk, I think. If I can, I need to do French, Latin and Geometry. I have to edit and get through a little housekeeping.

Good morning!  The boys are still in bed and I think i'm going to give them a bit more time, I really think I need to ease up just a bit on our wake time for a little while, clearly we all need just a bit more rest.  Our schedule for today is the bare minimum because I need to run to the bookstore an hour away to pick up a book and to just get out of the house for a bit.  I'm also going to spend some time trying to bring beauty, truth and virtue back into our lessons.

Halfway through our day. DD got her work done quickly so she could build the lego set my in-laws gave her for her birthday. It's of the thousands piece variety so it will occupy her all day. (Before I have to move it to storage to protect it from the two year old and it will never get touched again :( )

DS9 got most of his math and his Athena's class done. I think the new schedule is the right amount of math but he had a serious case of the dilly-dally's this morning. It took him 25 minutes to get a snack, find two pencils from a drawer that only contains writing implements, sharpeners and erasers, grab a piece of white paper from box next to said drawer, and walk across the room to join me at the couch. He's having a 20 minute minecraft break (because I'm a total sucker) and then we're going to finish off math and do language arts.

DS5 did dreambox this morning for about an hour which I am totally counting as math for today. I'll have him read with me this afternoon or before dinner when DH is home depending on how crazy things are. He really loves to read to DH anyway so it isn't a bad lesson to save for that time.

I must must must clean up my house today. Whatever got done for the party was undone by a handful of happy girls. I really did go take a much needed nap the minute they left so most of the clean up got put off to today. I mostly want to focus our basement/family room and my bedroom. If those two areas are spotless I'll feel much more sane.

The boys got done.

I did not. Around 10 I was completely sick and getting sicker. DH had to come home, I went to the clinic, got swabbed for flu (negative) and now I'm doped up on medication for a nasty respiratory infection.

I don't think school will get done at all tomorrow. I really don't care at this point.

I think the antibiotic is working (fever spiked horribly and then went down slowly and no fever this morning) but I still feel really bad. The boys think they can handle what is on their schedule without me, but decided to double up French on Thursday so I can listen.

About the biggest thing I plan to attempt today is a shower.

I didn't even get a chance to post yesterday, I was on the go from morning till bedtime! We did get everything done though. We are a lot better at getting things done on the days we have evening activities.

Today we don't have any evening activities and we all slept in a bit so of course we are late getting started. But when we do everybody has their own math, writing, grammar, spelling and reading; one has logic, one has handwriting and one has typing. Then together we have science and are supposed to do a poetry tea.

Plus the usual chores: laundry, dishes, picking things up, vacuuming desperately needs to happen.

Hmmm, that seems like a lot. We'd better get started and see how much we can get done!

I had to reform our plan today. I had forgotten DS9 has his big dentist appointment this afternoon. He has huge anxiety and I had to bribe him with a day off just for the cleaning so I couldn't do less for today which is the day all the work will get done. I had him help me clean a little in the morning and then we called dreambox his math for the day. He looked me straight on the eye when I suggested dreambox and said "why are you being so nice to me?" Lol. Now he's playing a little minecraft to destress. We leave in an hour and a half.

Kitchen, family room, and living room are all clean enough that they could be company ready with 5-10 mins pickup so that's good enough for me today. Have 4-5 loads of laundry waiting to be folded and a full pile in the basement so that's my priority outside of this dentist appt.

Critter, hope your day goes well tomorrow. Teaching from the couch seems like a good plan.

Poor DS reacted badly to the nitrous and ended up getting wheeled out of the dentist in a wheelchair. No work got done so he has to try again :( I'm so heartbroken for him.. This really won't help the anxiety.

Planning on a full day tomorrow. Not sure if I'll have science club - one of my kids is on vacation, not sure if the other plans to show up. I'll just be ready and see what will happen as I actually don't know how to contact him at this point.

Still have that laundry hanging over my head.. Only got a tiny bit done out of the mountain.

Better they aborted the work than tried to do anything if he wasn't doing well. Maybe it would help him to know that they want to be sure he's completely comfortable before they do anything.

It's pretty hard to work on a kid who's puking lol. But yes. His dentist is awesome. She's factual and scientific while also being encouraging and very supportive. She gets consent every inch of the way which is so important for him especially. He says he'll go back without being to anxious this time. The stress of having to do it all again might kill me but it will be worth it in the end. :)

CadenceSophia, I'm so sorry your little guy had such a rough time at the dentist.

Critter I'm glad you're improving, teaching from the couch is a wonderful idea!

Well, we got some work done yesterday, but not enough in my opinion, I'm not going to stress it though, just gonna work until we get done. I did not make it to the bookstore so I think I'm just going to order the stuff I want from rainbow resources, it'll save me time and gas. Our schedule for today is complete what was left of yesterday's work and do what we can of today's.

I got maybe two hours of sleep last night. I had to cough myself into oblivion. I'm still coughing a lot. My fever is gone, though, and I'm better sitting up, so I'm supervising school while blowing a box of tissues into little fragments.

Today's schedule:

Boys do what's on the schedule

I sit and watch and keep my temper

Edit one of my remaining long chapters and work on a plot map to help with creating a long synopsis and a short synopsis this week or next

Mostly don't die coughing

That's probably all I can handle, although I did get the laundry going.

I didn't die coughing. Threw up twice, but did not die. I finally got a decent night's sleep and while I don't feel great, I'm not in that state where I'm on the brink of falling over at any moment.

Today's schedule:

No art--I'm not going to drive until I absolutely must. These coughing spells are pretty rough. We may paint here at the house.

Boys-do what's on the sheet--

I'm going to listen in on French

Do basic chores

Maybe sweep if I'm up to it

Cook a little bit

Rest and Edit

I haven't died yet. Good for me.

Today's schedule:

French-Quiz

Latin-Lesson 21 DVD, workbook

Math-Lesson 12, page of KTM

Writing-spelling test, grammar exercise, I have to come up with a challenge exercise--probably apply the character exercise to plot, that would be good.

Literature-more comprehension stuff for Sleepy Hollow

Geography-Western Europe, maps and stuff

For me: catch up Latin, Geometry, keep up with French. Grammar--do what I can to catch up. Edit. Starting seventh draft polishing at this point.

Don't die coughing. Cook.

Baby cut his first tooth today!

I really really just wanna hide in bed today:( I have no particular excuse though so I am going to get us through school, to the playground, and probably to Costco as well.

I'm really behind on my self-study hours for this month because I let myself get caught up in a TV show. I'm saying myself a new rule -- no tv unless I've done 2h from my study plan.

Critter- how you feeling today?

Today was pretty good! Got to go for a ride on the bike, got to go to the bookstore and had a wonderful lunch with dh. It was so nice just the two of us. I'm sitting on the couch now prepping a literature lesson for older boy next week and still need to prep math, Latin and my co op class. So, that's what I'll be doing the rest of the evening and after service tomorrow.

Much better, thanks! Still coughing a good deal, but no longer throwing up when I do. I'm managing to sleep at night. Probably will try to go boat at the lake tomorrow and get some fresh air.
