happyhappyjoyjoy
I've decided to use Saxon/Hake grammar for middle school for DS1. We'd been doing Shurley, but it is on the shelf due to teacher intensity. I'm thinking I should go ahead and start him on Saxon grammar now. Should I get the 5th grade book and have him go through the summer? Or should I go ahead into the 6th grade book and have him go at an easy pace for 1 1/2 years? SparklyUnicorn
I'd get either 5 or 6 and go for a normal pace. They aren't all that different.
Guest
Start with 5th so you have more years before you have to choose a new one!
MiMi 4under3
Start with 5th so he gets even more vocabulary. Plus there are only slightly more than 100 lessons so you can catch up in about 1.5 years.
EKS
Whatever you do, you want to end up with the 8th grade book.

EKS
Is it particularly good? It's particularly *complete*. If you don't use the 8th grade book, you haven't completed the program. If you only want to use two books, I'd do 6 and 8.

I might jump to 6 since I have it.
