cajunrose
It's rated PG but I just can't figure out if it is appropriate for her or not. I have read review sites, etc but it's still vague. Has anybody seen it? Taken your child around the same age? Thanks Stephenie
Mrs Mungo
I wouldn't because of the ending. Major spoilers: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Life_of_Pi_(film)#section_1
catz
Totally agree with Mungo. I went with my 12 year old who had read the book and we thought it was fantastic. I wouldn't have taken my 8 year old (unless she read and was ok with the book, my 8 year old has read a couple books some might find questionable). Kim in Appalachia
I would not take a nine year old to see it. The subject matter is difficult and upsetting. The book has some fairly graphic scenes, which if in the movie would be disturbing. Especially the ending, if they visualize what the men say to Pi.....that would be rough. My 10 year old has watched all of the super hero movies, but they don't come off as "real", this book does.
chiguirre
We all went to see it last weekend and Trinqueta enjoyed it. She's not a sensitive child though so ymmv. Another thing to keep in mind is that a lot of the movie is telling about his life before the life boat and there are lots of scenes of people sitting and talking, so a 9yo might be bored. OTOH, even GW enjoyed this movie. We only went to see Life of Pi because Skyfall was sold out, but all of us ended up enjoying it which is a huge seal of approval for a movie.
