sweetbaby
I was wondering if I had company. I haven't been on any forums with those homeschooling special needs high schoolers. I have a special needs 11th grader.

mom42terrificgirls
We have homeschooled her since 3rd grade, and I retained her one year. Wish it could have been more, but she is anxious to move on with life.

teachmom3
Youngest ds has high-functioning autism. We've been homeschooling him for about seven years now. (We homeschooled our NT older children through high school.)
amber in GA
I have a 14yo whom I took out of ps after 5th grade and have been homeschooling ever since. He is mildly mentally retarded, low iq. A lot of days are really hard, but I'm glad to know there are others out there in the same boat! amber
sandellie4
Us too. The most challenging one is going into 11th grade this fall. She has Asperger's and can be very rigid. It's exhausting sometimes, and lonely, but then when I think about what public school would have been like for her (we took her out in the 6th grade to homeschool her), I try to remember that while homeschooling isn't always perfect, it's better than what might have been.
