DB in NJ
I'd rather be in labor. Really. My dentist gave me some valium to take to calm me down. I have been fine all morning, but now that it's almost time to go, I feel sick to my stomach, shaky, nervous. I'm trying not to think about it, but.... HELP!!! Crissy
Oh, I'm so sorry! I've had one root canal, though, and it was a breeze! Really!! I'll be thinking about you, DB!
DB in NJ
Update: No root canal!!! The endodontist said the x-ray was inconclusive, so he said for me to finish my antibiotics and come back in a month. If I have pain before my appointment, he'll take me on an emergency basis. His gut feeling is that a root canal will have to be done, but there was just no indication of it today, the x-ray wasn't clear (and he took another one just to be sure), and why do something if you don't have to. We'll just be praying that it's just an infection, the antibiotic will get rid of it, and I won't have to have this thing done!! Wooohoooo!!!! Tammyla
I'm doing a happy dance for you. Hope it clears up with the antibiotic.

King's Kid
If you have to get it done, it truly is no big deal. I've had a number of them. There's no pain whatsoever during the procedure, and though the tooth is sore for a week or two, the pain is endurable; all I took was ibuprofen. Hope you don't have to get it done but, if you do, it won't be as horrid as you're thinking. Expensive, yes, but not horrid.

I had a root canal before -- about 15 years ago -- and I'm hoping that things have improved since then or that maybe I just had a really bad experience. Either way, I'll take my valium before I have it done (IF I even need it!!). Fortunately, we have excellent dental insurance. The whole thing will only cost me about $50. :D Thanks again -- ALL OF YOU -- for your kind words :)
A.J. at J.A.
I've had 5 root canals (not at the same time) and they went fine...(and I don't like pain!). It was such a relief to have the pain gone that they were certainly worth it! Angela
