stephanier.1765
I put the pictures on my blog of the Iliad lapbook my son and I did as a pre-reading activity for the book. I've been trying to mix up how he studies each unit in his lit/history study. They are all research in one form or another but I want his mind to be able to gather and organize material in whatever way he is asked. I'm having a lot of trouble trying to get the pictures and the text to look nice so I'm giving up and just going with what I've got.
April in CA
This is really cool! Thanks for sharing. Where did you find those character flashcards? I wonder if there is anything like this for the odyssey... Blessings, April
stephanier.1765
Thanks! I found them here: http://bogglesworldesl.com/greekmyths_flashcards.htm And then I adapted them to our needs using Photoshop.
Elinor Everywhere
Wow! And once again, I wish I were a fun, creative mom. I LOVE what your son accomplished, and what a great intro to the book. Nice job!

I have reinvented a few lapbook projects here and know that what the two of you accomplished is no small feat. Thank you for sharing this. How much of it did you do in Photoshop? Pretty much all of it was done in Photoshop. The insides of the mini books aren't because he filled those in by hand as he did the research. He would be at his desk researching and I would be at my desk working in Photoshop and printing. It was almost an assembly line deal. We both came up with ideas for what books to include. His were of the more gruesome variety.
Corraleno
Wow, that's gorgeous! You must have put so much work into it, you should sell the template as a PDF file. I'm not kidding, that's so much nicer than any of the other lapbook packages I've seen, which is precisely why we never do lapbooks — the packaged ones I've seen aren't very nice looking, and I don't have time to design really nice ones like you did. I'd buy it! Jackie

I'd buy it! Jackie I second Jackie's suggestion. I've been spoiled ever since we used Amy Pak's materials from Home School in the Woods. Unfortunately, she doesn't have anything for world history. I end up using her work as a template and building from there and it takes me forever!:tongue_smilie:
Kareni
What a wonderful project! It looks very professional. I think that you and your son can be proud of this work. Regards, Kareni

Thank you that is a huge compliment, but I couldn't in good conscience sell it since I pretty much took other people's work (ie. images and mini book templates) and modified them to our needs. If I had been thinking ahead, I would have formatted things better so they could easily slide into a PDF and then put it on my blog for others to have for free but now it would be no small feat to go back and fix it that way. The "Iliad Lapbook" folder on my computer is a complete mess. :tongue_smilie::lol:
