King's Kid
A couple of questions: 1) How long do the daily assignments take and 2) Would dd be able to do her writing around her Notgrass World History assignments? Or do both? I'd love to get some feedback on this program! Thanks!
ValRN
:bigear:I have WriteShop also (one of the things I purchased for this year, but never got around to using) and am interested in the answer to this post. Val

dtsmamtj
OK, here is what I think: Although we really enjoyed the two levels we did in 7th and 8th grade, I am now looking for something more rigorous for high school. We did some of Jensen's Format Writing this year and are finishing the year out with Put that in Writing I. We found the Write Shop to be a good "starting point" for writing, but unless they have enhanced it (or you enhance it yourself with more assignments in each section) I am not sure I would use it for high school. I didn't use the daily suggestions, but grouped them together to get to the writing assignment part sooner. HTH T

HTH T Approximately how long would one lesson take, and is it doable to work it around writing assignments from another program, such as Notgrass' or Sonlight history? Anyone else have feedback to offer? I'm in the throes of curriculum decisions and I could sure use the input. :bigear:
Sunshine State Sue
1) How long do the daily assignments take We are using Write Shop 1 & 2 for 6th-7th-8th. We've completed WS 1 and part of WS 2 so far. Each lesson is WS 1 has: pre-writing activity + skill builder practice paragraph + skill builder brainstorming/sloppy copy (rough draft) + skill builder 1st revision final revision For us' date=' the first 3 days took up to an hour each. The last 2 days took up to 30min. We spread the lesson out over 2 weeks. I imagine that a 10th grader would not take as much time as a 6th grader. 2) Would dd be able to do her writing around her Notgrass World History assignments? Or do both? Do you plan to complete Write Shop 1 & 2? In one year or two years? I don't understand 'Would dd be able to do her writing around her Notgrass World History assignments? ' Do you mean can the lesson be adapted to her history assignment?
Sunshine State Sue
2) Would dd be able to do her writing around her Notgrass World History assignments? Not sure what you mean here' date=' but if you mean can you substitute subject matter to write about, I would say no. Each lesson is very specific. For example, ds had to write a description of a vacation resort as it really was (run down). Then, rewrite it to make it sound fancy. Or do both? If you plan to complete WS 1 & 2 over 2 years, doing both should not be a problem. WS 1 has 16 lessons and WS 2 has 14 lessons. Take 2 weeks per lesson for 32 weeks one year and 28 weeks the next year. Doing a lesson over 2 weeks leaves time for other writing assignments. Note that I know nothing about Notgrass. Here is their FAQ that may help you decide: http://www.writeshop.com/faqs.htm#complete_program HTH!
