Chris in VA
I'm just about to sign ds up for Write At Home's Essay 1 course. He needs to learn to write, and I'm just not the one to teach him! Anyone have experience with this course? It's the 9 week workshop. I'll post on the general board, too.
MicheleinMN
Hi Chris, No experience yet. My dd has agreed to take the workshop this summer. Please let us know what you and your dc think of the program! Michele
Anne/Ankara
Chris, here is another option, one that I'm going to try out for next year, called Advance High School Composition. I see that they have a few choices, called Group Tutorials Composition. Might be something to check out... this one is a two-week summer course, costs $75. http://debrabell.com/online_classes.htm
Bev in B'ville
She really enjoyed it. To my knowledge, it's the only Write at Home course that includes the book, The Lively Art of Writing. The emphasis of this class is on the five paragraph essay. My son took the fiction writers or short story (I can't remember), but it was good, too. Enjoy! Cynde
Hi Chris, Both our dc took this course last year and both liked it. I think it's a very solid course especially if your student needs help in this area. I was pleased they used The Lively Art of Writing. Our dc have continued to use this book as a resource in their other writing. FWIW, we've taken several courses from Write At Home (Comp 1, Comp 2, Essay, Research, and Short Fiction), and we've been extremely pleased with all of them. TRILLIUM
My dd took the essay course and liked it last year. I had a friend who did the essay course course during the summer did not find it to fit their schedule well. Write at home has cycles of writing and revising. They will let you adjust the due dates but if your gone for much of the class the writing and revising gets real bunched up.
