Katiebug_1976
I am thinking about using LLATL with my soon to be 4th, 7th & 8th graders next year. With a new baby on the way, I want to have everything planned out, bought and ready to go as early as possible. I am also trying to manage this with a VERY TIGHT budget, but I don't want to leave out anything great if I don't have to. So, I guess this is my question. Is the student book necessary to use this curriculum? Thanks for your help,
TxMama
No the student book isn't necessary but does make it easier for some kids. If you look at their examples from their website then you can decide if your kids would benefit from the student book or not. One of my kids prefered using it and the other did better using regular notebook paper due to handwriting issues. When my older children became proficient at typing they both preferred to do the assignments on the computer. hth
AudreyTN
Another thing you could do is find the older editions used (pre 1998). There are no workbooks. That's what I decided to do for next year after my dh was laid off.
iammommy
Especially if you will be busy with a newborn. Everything is so much easier with the workbook. You can probably live without the teacher's guide. I have it, but sometimes go weeks without even looking at it. Also, you can look for used copies. The Girls' Mom
I hardly used the Teacher book with ours. The student books were plenty. You won't have an answer key, but I've found that you really don't need one.
Katiebug_1976
Thank you for the info. Still trying to decide what to do. Why does curriculum choosing have to be so hard? Ha!Ha!
