TXMomof4
I'm in the middle of the Beth Moore study on Esther with some girls from church. At first I wasn't too thrilled with it - it seemed to lack the depth of Bible study that some of her other studies have had. Last week though was AMAZING! The topic was on the courage Esther had to have to put herself out there to save her people. Beth made the point that the word used in Prov. 31:10 - a woman of noble character is exactly the same word used in Judges 6:12 when the angel describes Gideon as a mighty warrior. I love that. Love it, love it, love it! She said the word is also translated as a person of valor. Not that I don't believe her, but I'd like to see it myself. I have no idea about how to figure that out for myself (without having to go buy a lot of books). Thanks for any help.
Julie in Austin
Here's how you can check that sort of thing: go to http://www.biblestudytools.com/InterlinearBible/ and you'd type in Proverbs 31:10 which would take you here: http://www.biblestudytools.com/InterlinearBible/bible.cgi then click on "virtuous" and you'll be on this page: http://www.biblestudytools.com/Lexicons/Hebrew/heb.cgi?number=02428&version=kjv and on the right is a list of other times when that same word is used, so you can click on Judges and see that, yes, it is the same word as Judges 6:12. RebeccaS
I find that a good concordance does wonders for my Bible study. It's easy to use and can be quite astonishing what one can find out about words and their uses.
Peek a Boo
i prefer to use the internet, but we also consult an in-hand concordance. I have seen them at the thrift stores quite a bit: people get a new one and discard the old one [that served them well for YEARS!!!!]. happy learning :)
