Amy loves Bud
I just read this and really enjoyed it. I'd like to read something similar, but more of a gardener's-how-to with politics thrown in than a political treatise itself. Suggestions? Anita in NC
I just read "In Defense of Food." It talks about getting back to eating real food. I found it very interesting and read the entire book in a day. You might like it if you liked, "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle."
yslek
You might enjoy "You Can Farm" by Joel Salatin. Though about farming, not gardening, it's very enjoyable & inspiring. :) http://www.amazon.com/You-Can-Farm-Entrepreneurs-Enterprise/dp/0963810928/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1237335864&sr=8-1 (The author is a homeschooler, too!) Firefly
Try The Omnivore's Dilemma. It was recommended to me when I asked the same question (IRL). Not sure about the gardening part of it though since I haven't read it yet!
Jane in NC
I have not read this book, but had made a mental note of Depletion & Abundance: Life on the New Home Front which you can read about here. Someone either on these boards or in other Internet spaces that I frequent led me to the author's blog which I found to be interesting. Hmmm... I'm wondering, Amy, if you were the poster who originally suggested Sharon Astyk? :D What goes around, comes around? Jane
MKS
"Deep Economy". "What to Eat" is good, too.
Melinda in VT
This Organic Life: Confessions of a Suburban Homesteader. This was actually the first book on this subject I read (I've since read Animal, Vegetable, Miracle and In Defense of Food) and I loved it.
