Do mushrooms have any nutritional value?

Recommended Posts

WHO CARES! They are one of God's greatest creations! LOVE THEM.

ahh...sorry, in answer to your question, I think it's probably not worth diguising them. They are too expensive to waste on those who don't appreciate them anyway! Just think...more for you!

Mushrooms are full of a variety of beneficial phytochemicals that have been linked to decreasing risks for chronic illnesses as well as cancer (esp. breast cancer). You could Google phytochemicals and mushrooms I'm sure.

Nutritionally, in the general sense, I don't think they have a lot of the standard nutrients that you're used to seeing on the nutritional label. Certainly there are other foods that are going to give you more fiber, calcium, folate, iron etc... Afterall, mushrooms are not a vegetable, but a fungus. However, they are a powerful food nonetheless and extremely low in calories.

I would definitely say they are worth the effort. ;)
