Brenda in MA
Oh Wise Hive! We just finished Great Expectations, and now my son wants to see a movie version. Problem is --- I did a search and there are versions filmed in 1946, 1974, 1981, 1998 (with Gwynth Paltrow), and 1999 (masterpiece theater). If you've seen any of these, which one(s) would you recommend? TIA, Brenda
JFSinIL
B/W film with Alex Guiness as Herbert Pocket and John Mills as Pip. Probably;y the 1946 one you found.

Jane in NC
I have only seen the Masterpiece version which was thoroughly enjoyable.
Jenn in CA
The Gwyneth Paltrow one was too sexual for our taste. It was a great idea though, because it would make a great contemporary movie. I think I've seen the Masterpiece Theater one though and liked it.
