Lifetime warranties that aren't

I bought a spendy-for-me Circulon pan with a lifetime warranty. The surface failed. The company is happy to replace but the small print states that the warranty doesn't apply to the new pan. Still a decent deal - two for the price of one - but not what I thought.

I grew up with cast iron and Husband still uses it. I like to have the option of throwing something in the dishwasher though.
