Dawn in Ohio
The shower stall in our master bath is just gross. The caulk around the door is moldy and the metal is rusty. Has anyone opted for a shower curtain instead of a door for a stand-alone shower stall? Would it work? I hate cleaning shower doors, especially when they never really get clean. And I'm sure replacing it would cost quite a bit. Any ideas?

They sell liners/curtains that are made for shower stalls (they are longer) and it works fine. The only problem is that the selection isn't that great. TraceyS/FL
My SIL has had one for years, and we had one here before we redid the shower.
Jennifer in MI
One of the first things I did when we moved in to this house was take out the shower/bath doors. Those things just get too disgusting for me! I like a shower curtain I can replace or wash. We replaced one of ours with a curtain rod that curves. I was surprised at how much space it feels like there is in there now! So, I recommend one of those.
In The Great White North
We took ours out too. Getting all the grout/caulk/whatever it was off was a chore but it was so much cleaner afterward. Well worth it.
mom2abcd
I would switch out, too. One product that worked well for our disgusting hard-water-stained shower was the Dow Scrubbing Bubbles Shower Cleaner. It didn't get everything, but it worked better than anything else I'd ever tried.
MyThreeSons
It's definitely worth the couple of extra bucks to get the mold-resistant curtain.
Dawn in Ohio
Thanks, ladies. I think this will be one of my projects for next week. My concern is that there might not be a high enough lip/edge to the shower stall to keep the curtain in place. Does that make sense? Anyway, I think I'll give it a try. :)
In The Great White North
It's definitely worth the couple of extra bucks to get the mold-resistant curtain. I have a cotton duck shower curtain from the Vermont Country Store that's great. I periodically throw it in the wash (boil and bleach) and mold is not a problem. Highly recommended.
