Crissy
For drivers under the age of 18 in Washington, a 30 hour course (including 6 hours of driving time) is required. If you want to check your state's requirements, take a look at this site.
Vicki
We live in Texas and my children did a home taught driving course. God bless, Vicki
Mx5
. My son went for several weeks, super early in the morning during the summer for the classroom part of the course. Then he had "behind the wheel" lessons with the director & other kids. Honestly, dh & I had to teach our son SO many things that were never taught, or caught. The course was $300! If I had it to do all over again... which I do with 4 more kids... I'd say go for the Driver's Ed in a Box unless you hear from others that the drivers ed courses in your area are helpful. Janet in WA
Yes. In fact, we required our oldest son to also take a defensive driving course.
Laura K (NC)
When kids are 14 1/2 they have 40 hours of class in a public or private school and there is no charge. Then there is an in-car portion when they get closer to 15. They can't get their permit (before age 18, I think?) without taking this class. Ellie
so dh and I taught our dds ourselves. Besides, they learned to drive before there were driving courses for hsers and an Internet to find out about them :-)
