battlemaiden
The best course of action? clean as best as possible...put on neosporin with pain relief...bandage up...elevate....tylenol/motrin for pain. What am I missing? I just took care of the neighbor's boy and I have never dealt with one of these. Jo
Elaine
Ooooohhh! That hurts! My little guy had his thumb nail ripped off last summer. We took him to one of those emergent care places and they put this gauzy looking thing, yes I know I am awesome with the technical medical terms;), so that when his nail began to grow back it would grow over the gauze. (The gauze just disintegrated.) That may not be the case for your little person's injury but it never hurts to have ot checked. We were told to keep it covered and clean and medicate as needed with tylenol and motrin. He was fine after a few hours.
MeanestMomInMidwest
sounds like you did the right thing. when this happened to my dh, he did that, plus bought a finger splint just so his finger would be protected from bumps (it was very tender). It eventually grew back. Makes me cringe just to think about it.
Rosie_0801
Whenever that's happened to me (I have bad luck with toenails) I just washed it and stuck a bandaid over it. Rosie
