silver
Is there anything out there like the Genevieve Foster (George Washington's World, etc) that have been written more recently? I like how it covers many events/people of the time, and ties them together. I don't like that these books are older, and thus likely use outdated language for other races and may have racist undertones.
silver
Good to know that the racism isn't always hidden. Which of the books do you find that to be most problematic?
LMD
Maybe the Oxford university press ones? We did some of Age of Science and Revolutions alongside World of Columbus & Sons (which we really liked overall), which gave a very clear and different view of slavery, so my kids got some balance.
