mommysanders
My son is going through Right Start D now, and they're building his multiplication facts. I wonder if others who have gone through the right start program would recommend adding in some multiplication tables for extra practice? I have held off because I wanted him to understand the concept before just memorizing the tables. But I think it might be time to start memorizing now... Kiara.I
I'm not sure what you mean by tables. Flash cards? Writing them out over and over? Have you played a bunch of Multiplication War or Ring Around the Factors? Generally in Rightstart it's playing games that leads to memorization.

I mean having a sheet of paper with the multiplication problems written out and having him fill it out (maybe timed) over and over and over. I guess I just always called that times tables or multiplication tables. Basically drilling it for memorization. I see RS is starting to do that a bit via games. And it's working.... but I really want it to be solid. I just didn't want to jump the gun if RS is going to do plenty of it's own memory work via drills or games. HomeAgain
Check the back of the workbook. There should be warm-up pages there that are 10-15 practice problems per day before you start the new work. They're scheduled in after the multiplication tables have been worked on a bit.

Some kids need less practice, some more... And it's always fine to add in extra games!
LynnS
We did Reflex Math (online game) for multiplication and division practice.
Harriet
I'm not sure which edition you're using. We have the first edition and for awhile there in both D and E, the lessons call for you to spend some time on "practice sheets" at the beginning. These can be found in the back of the worksheets book. They're timed and a good way to help with memorization.
nixpix5
We just added in Mythmatical Battle (a fun card game) to get more facts practice and my 7 year old who is doing D has really mastered facts just fine.
