umsami
In the WTM, Susan talks about different levels of outlining that kids should be doing starting in 5th grade. I want to say at fifth grade, it's a top line outline...all Roman Numerals...and then as you progress through middle school, you end up with one with sub-tobics and such. Outlining is a skill that my kids have never been taught at school, so we're starting everybody whom this applies to at the 5th grade level, and then we'll work our way up as the year progresses for the 8th and 9th grader. Does anybody have any sort of typed out handout or know of one that I can print out and post for the kids to remind them of what I'm expecting? I know I can type one myself, but trying to avoid the extra work if somebody has already done it. ? almondbutterandjelly
Since no one had suggestions, I am going to throw out that I really like Remedia Publications two workbooks, Beginning Outlining and Outlining, to teach this skill. They obviously have examples in their books.
Familia
I second the Remedia Publications workbooks. We did these over the summer. My vague memory is that they were recommended in my old copy of WTM. https://www.rempub.com/index.php?category_id=0&search=outlining&sub_category=1&route=product/search&description=true Edited October 8, 2018 by Familia added link
