Alessandra
I got a bag of Frieda's sweet potatoes in Trader Joe's. Purple skin, purple inside. I found one website that said they were carcinogenic unless cooked very slowly at 300 degrees for two plus hours and another site that said they were a superfood that could be roasted at a high temperature, 450 degrees. Renthead Mommy
We ate them in Oki. They are very good but startvhier than regular and sweet potatoes. We roasted them and mashed them. Super fun dish when mashed, but cook, mash, eat. They get thick as they cool. They don’t travel to Thanksgiving dinner well as mashed... But in Oki they are super famous. Okinawa had a blithe(?) and their main food sources were dying off. Like the Irish potato famine. But some introduced the benimo potatos and they grew and thrived and basically saved them from starvation.

Renthead Mommy
And in Oki, you find benimo everywhere! Ice cream, chips, tea, lotion, soap, like seriously in all sorts of things.
