Cinder
Dd is in 7th grade this year and I'm trying to put together a list of read-alouds. What are your favorites for this age? I'm not tying the RA's to history so all ideas are welcome. Thanks!
HomeAgain
A View From Saturday Cheaper By The Dozen/Belles On Their Toes The Phantom Tollbooth Treasure Island A Christmas Carol Washington Irving's stories The Princess Bride Peter Pan The Martian Chronicles I know some of these are for younger children, like Peter Pan and The Phantom Tollbooth, but I have found that repeated exposure to them at various ages helps the children catch more of the jokes and deeper information than they did the first time around, when they skimmed the surface.
mamaraby
Right now we're reading a fantasy series based on the Pied Piper of Hamelin by Matthew Cody. The first book is called "The Peddler's Road." Amazon puts the series at 8-12 years old, but my 7th grader enjoys it just as much as his younger sisters.
