This is extra scary because she is a musician (four instruments plus voice) and a composer of music. If anyone has any experience in this area, I would love to hear from you. Travel if needed. audiologist in my prior life, worked for 6 great ENTS (more then 6 over my career), and only 2 would have a I trusted with this. Pronghorn Posted May 17, 2017 Author Share Posted May 17, 2017 We went in for the office visit today. The doctor suctioned the cholesteatoma out of the ear canal, and my daughter can hear again. There was no perforation of the eardrum or middle ear involvement. There is some erosion of the external ear canal. The doctor recommend ear plugs when showering or swimming, along with continued monitoring in case the cholesteatoma comes back. zimom Posted May 17, 2017 Share Posted May 17, 2017 Sounds very encouraging. I would recommend custom ear plugs for swimming in any lakes or ocean type setting. Anything other then showering or swimming in a chlorinated pool. These will probably cost around $50-$100. An impression should be taken of her ear and sent off to be made.
