MamaSprout
Has anyone seen this IRL? Would it work paired with some anthologies? I need accountability and essay ideas for co-op classes. http://www.rainbowresource.com/product/Guide+to+the+Great+Books/016175
MamaSprout
Replying to myself. Not what I hoped- it only has guides for the ancient titles. Everything else is just summaries.
chiguirre
Smarr guides might work for accountability and essay ideas. That's what Landry used. There are comprehension questions (these can be a bit of trivial pursuit, but you have to read the material to be able to answer them) and several deeper thinking questions for each section. Some of the deeper thinking questions are Christian (compare to a bible story or verse) but there are secular ones as well and the religious ones usually are good thinking questions not fluffy at all. They have an extensive collection of guides: http://www.smarrpublishers.com/ For a free option, Glencoe literature guides might work for you: http://www.glencoe.com/sec/literature/litlibrary/ There questions are a bit more general and they don't have as many essay prompts as Smarr but they are nicely laid out and free. MamaSprout
I've used the Glencoe guides, but they are mostly middle school. I found a typo (called Roald Dahl "Ronald") in the sample for the Smarr guides, so I didn't spend too much more time with them. Maybe I'll look at them again. Thanks!
