Big Bend

Just a small little bit of opinion, and it's not even mine. But I was talking with a ranger at a Texas state park this past autumn, and he told me that he liked the state park at Big Bend more than the National one. So maybe that is an option?

For anybody camping at a state park in Texas, it is worthwhile to get the Parks card if you are staying for more than a few days. It costs around $70 dollars, but it lets you and your family members into all the parks without additional cost (normally it's $5 a day per person), and you get 3 or 4 second night's stays for 50% off. It also entitles you to other benefits, like 10% off at gift shops.

I was going to check for you to see if there were any openings at the Texas State Park at Big Bend, but for some reason I can't get the website up. Maybe it's down or not working with my out-of-date browser.
