Question on Scholarship Timing

The competitive scholarships DD is applying for have a deadline of March 1st.  When do you normally expect to hear from scholarships like that?  The scholarships will be a primary factory in her decision of which school to attend, so she hopes to know as soon as possible so she can make a decision.  

 

What has been your experience on hearing back about competitive scholarships?

Ours is also the first week of March.

I don't know. I'd call the schools and ask.

All the scholarships that my son applied for were due in Dec. with interviews in Feb/March.

 

I would expect at the latest to know by April 1st as that is when many competitive colleges tell students they are admitted, scholarships, and financial aid. Students usually have to make a decision by May 1st to keep a spot at the school.

It really varied. The latest one was April 15th (and that was a biggie, full ride at Ga Tech, so needed the info before making a final decision.) I'd plan on a month after the deadline, and hope for earlier :-)
