coopers5
On the eve of the PSAT for many of us, ahem, I wanted to find out if there are any food experts out there who could give any good advice regarding..... brain food! :001_huh: What I mean is - what do you guys know about what foods are good to feed your child before his/her testing that are specifically supposed to enhance brain power, etc.???? Any thoughts? :bigear:
Michelle in MO
(since all three are enrolled now), I'm going to make some scrambled eggs and oatmeal, plus OJ and plenty of vitamins. Maybe even bacon! Lots of food, protein, vitamins, etc. I hope the PSAT goes well for everyone's kids tomorrow!
Gwen in VA
I would make the breakfast high protein, but I would make it something you usually serve so their stomachs, which are probably nervous enough as it is, don't complain. We have French toast at last once a week, so my kids always have French toast on the morning of any big exam.
MaryM
Salmon...we had it for dinner! Along with protein for breakfast, I have been known to give MtnDew because of the caffeine, seriously! It works. Mary
Sharon in MD
And, my son always take diet coke and a protein rich snack bar along with him to testing. I'd watch out for a sugar crash if the breakfast is to high on the bad carbs side.....
Miss Marple
I have a neighbor who is a dietician (now a medical student) who swears that dark chocolate is brain food. And both of her kids are quite brainy - so my guy is going to get a handful of chocolate chips before he leaves :-)
Quiver0f10
My son had an egg sandwhich. He didn't seem to be too nervous, except it was his first time at the high school and THAT made him nervous. :)
April in CA
Cynthia, if dark chocolate really is brain food, I should test better than Einstein! Thanks for the ammo for when my husband tells me to cut back on all those bags of Dove darks! Blessings, April - off to pick up ds from the PSAT right now! Miss Marple
I'm always looking for 'evidence' to allow me to continue my dark chocolate habit :drool5:
