Fall registration starts today. I haven't used Bravewriter before, but I'm pretty excited to have my 8th grader signed up for KidsWrite Intermediate. I think it will be nice for her to have an online class (older sister did an online Latin class as an 8th grader and got a lot out of it), and it will be good for her to get writing feedback from someone besides me I think. There's one subject planned for fall--first six weeks anyway.

Is that the October 31 Writing the Short Story? I was looking at that last night and thinking dd would love it--she's always writing stories. We'll see how she does with this first class and if she likes it, I could see us signing up for Short Story next.

Yup.  DD loves creative writing, so I thought this might be a chance to organize and follow through with her writing.  I think she will be so proud of having a finished project.

We are getting ready to sign up too for October start dates..... I'm bummed they don't have Middle School Writing Projects class for fall! I really wanted to start with that before Kidswrite Intermediate.

I just emailed them to ask if Middle School Writing Projects will be held in the winter.  I, too, would like dd to take that before Kidswrite Intermediate.

Great! Touch base here please when you hear back from them!

We may try Write for Fun 1 or 2 before Kidswrite Int.

Re: Middle School Writing Projects. It "may" be in the winter line up. She recommended High School Writing Projects. And I decided that it would be a great fit for dd13.

Last year we did Just So Stories and Kidswrite Basic. Great classes. My son's favorite I think was Just So Stories. After finishing he said he wanted to take it again which left me pleasantly surprised. I thought this year we would use Writing Apprentice and supplement with Brave Writer here and there. I told him about W.A. and he thought it sounded like fun but after receiving the book and looking over the the format he was lukewarm. For this year, he unexpectedly ended up lining up his classes for the first semester (blew me away): Summer Movie Discussion Club, Write for Fun 1, Nature Journaling (missed out last yr), Homer Price Arrow Club in October, and Writing the Short Story. After Christmas I think he wants to take Journaling Jumpstart because I wouldn't let him squeeze it in with Writing the Short Story. It is just so relieving that he has found a program in the writing arena that he likes. BW saved the day.

Seriously, they must have had tons of emails about not being offered in fall session. Guess they decided to squeeze it in! Happy they did!

I ended up signing dd up for High School Writing Projects.  She is most excited about this class, because she gets to wrote about horses!
