DD is accepted to a school in less than 17 hours...

Recommended Posts

They've been begging her to apply, waived the application fee, told her to skip the essay, and didn't require any transcript, etc.  She submitted the online app for kicks.  She submitted it at 6:00 in the evening and by 10:00 the next morning she was accepted with their highest scholarship package.  So how desperate can a school be for students?     We found it humorous for some reason.  I have no idea why.  Maybe we are the only ones who find this funny.

I would say the school has a target/threshold for admissions: for acceptances and scholarships, and your daughter met both. Congrats. They talk about needing a safety school; looks like she has one. I hope it will also work as a financial safety. Of course, if she is not interested at all, it works as a story.

My oldest was accepted to a school with a scholarship junior year. Turns out there was a mailing list error. Some time later, the school sent an apology with an offer of an extra scholarship for students who applied and were accepted senior year.

Wow!  That's great.  It's nice to be wanted.  DD got tons of mail/email encouraging her to apply but they were more along the lines of:

"We need to get our application numbers UP so we can turn you DOWN and thereby INCREASE our exclusivity rating!"

or

"We want you to apply so we can accept you but offer little to no aid and remain unaffordable!"
