shawthorne44
I've decided to do an elementary science co-op class in the fall using the R.E.A.L. Science Odyssey Life Level 1 book. There are a lot more lessons than co-op classes, so I thought I'd pick and choose the best. The kids would have had some similar to the anatomy ones, so I thought I'd skip those. But, among the rest, which were your favorites?
Eagle
Cell jello was a hit, and the seeds lab where you wear an old sock on your hand and collect travelling seeds in grasses/weeds was fun too. The kids planted their socks and they sprouted!
shawthorne44
Oh, thank you! The book is actually still on the way, so when it gets here I will look those up first. How was the first one? It looks sort of boring.
happypamama
We haven't done REAL Science Odyssey yet, but we are planning to this year, and I think my second grader will love it. We made jello cells several years ago when my older kids were that age, and they were huge hits. So gross-looking but so much fun!

It looks sort of boring. I expected unit 1 (what is life?) to be boring since we covered that already in another curriculum. To jazz it up a bit we did that unit while on a field trip to a tropical botanical garden. Ds ended up liking it because he treated it more like a habitat study. shawthorne44
I was thinking we could do the jello cells and the egg as a cell on the first day of co-op. This will be my very very first co-op class ever. There will be 7 kids. The class is an hour. Do you think that will be too much?
