Tawlas
what else would he like? He really, really wants to get better at drawing. He practices all the time. But most of the other step by step "how to draw" books are too complicated and detailed for him at this point. I'm open to DVDs, full on art programs, books, whatever TIA! sdobis
Draw and Write through History is similar to Draw Write Now. It practices cursive and is obviously history based.
ReadingMama1214
A friend just showed me scholastics drawing books. They looked similar to draw write now but without the writing.

zarabellesmom
Anything by Mark Kistler. He has books and an online video course. My daughter loved both from about age eight on. He's fantastic and she really improved. Plus it was just plain fun. I did quite a few of the exercises too. ETA: He has some free stuff here: http://www.draw3d.com/ Edited May 6, 2016 by ZaraBellesMom
AdventuresinHomeschooling
Right now, Evan Moor is giving away a free art book download. Just an FYI We are liking Artistic Pursuits. It works with many types of mediums, encourages imagination, and it includes art history. Usborne has some great how to draw books as well. Also, look at some great doodle books. kristin0713
Are these good for kindergarten age?I bought several of the Usborne drawing books when my kids were about 5 and 3. They loved them then and still use them now at 10 and 8. (The younger is especially skilled in art, the older enjoys it a lot.) We have checked out a lot of other drawing books from the library but the Usborne books have been their favorite.
umsami
My kids love to draw and these days most of their instruction comes from youtube videos. Here's one channel they like, but usually they just type in what they want to draw and find a video for it. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC5XMF3Inoi8R9nSI8ChOsdQ

I am ordering the Big Drawing Book. We have Draw Write Now, but I think the activities and characters in Usborne will appeal to my daughter more. She's only 4, but art and drawing seem to be her strongest points. I'm excited!
