Holly
Have you looked on the Noeo Science website for ideas? It is a Christian program, but they use secular books. The One Small Square books are a great series, each on a different habitat.
desertflower
Here are a couple of threads: http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/topic/424829-science-living-books/ and http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/topic/258500-science-through-living-books/ (post #8). 1. I also use simply charlotte mason for reference. 2. We read the Burgess bird book. I just found about these Burgess books http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=burgess+beaver+book. 3. Among the _____ (Pond, meadow, etc.) Series 4. Popular mechanics for kids (dvd) 5. magic school bus (dvd) There's actually a living books curriculum, but I can't get in right now for some reason. Hope this helps. Syllieann
I like the Seymour Simon books and The Scientists in the Field series after Read and Find Out. The Simon books are a little shorter and easier than the scientist in the field books.
gypsymama
We watch MSB, Bill Nye, SciGirls, Sid the Science Kid, and Netflix documentaries here. My husband also got the boy (going into 3rd this yr) into watching this Netflix show called "Street Genius." It's really neat and he likes it because everyone tells what they think will happen then they get to see who, if anyone, is right. My son loves getting to guess what's going to happen and see if he "wins." I don't have any good book resources but I'll definitely share if I find any. Bill Nye and MSB both have demo sheets available on the websites to go with the videos if you are interested in that.
