Quiver0f10
We haven't done this, but for now we plan to go from Abeka 5 into CD 6. Our current plan is to switch to BJU for our younger kids after this school year and go into CD at grade 6. I hope others who have actual done this answer as I'd be interested in hearing their thoughts too.
PeterPan
Well this is just my two cents, but if you stick with BJU through 6, then you're ready for pre-algebra and can go into the algebra sequence of your choice. I don't know if CD is what you are thinking you'll prefer for algebra. I was thinking VideoText. It would just be a bummer to jump 3 times (BJU to CD to something else for algebra). So if CD is what you know you want for algebra, then I guess jump when you want. Seems to me though it would be easier to just stay with the BJU through 6, finish out the way they cover the math (since each curriculum has it's own topic sequence), and then switch going into pre-algebra. Michelle in AL
We tried to do this, but ended up switching back to BJU 6 after about a week and correlating the CD topics with the BJU math. Dd did not like the chalkdust text. It had too many problems and while I didn't ask her to do them all, it was somehow overwhelming to her. There were also some topics that BJU covered that CD didn't. I wish I could remember what they were.
HollyDay
Okay - my rather poor 2 cents. I jokingly say poor because I cant afford Chalkdust! I would stick with BJU. IF you want to switch to a dvd type program and dont want to use BJU dvds (I dont), then maybe look at TT. We stayed with BJU through 5th, did TT 7 in 6th, TT pr-algebra in 7th. I plan to do TT algebra 1 in 8th.
