Luckymama Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Tomorrow we have to get from George Washington (Foggy Bottom campus) to University of Maryland in College Park, leaving GWU about 4 pm. Should I go in reverse the way we will be getting to GWU----campus to Connecticut to 495 to the exit we'll take for UMD or cross-town taking K St/Rt 29/Rt 1 to College Park? Or will it basically be the same traffic mess whichever way I pick? Thanks! Quote
Farrar Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Going East-West in DC and Montgomery County is a pain no matter what you do. I hate driving on K St. though, so I'd go north before I went that particular way cross town. Quote
Farrar Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 (edited) You know, Rock Creek is pretty clear... you might cut down to Rock Creek then up and over and go across Missouri/Riggs Rd. Or up Nebraska to Military, which, of course, becomes Missouri and then Riggs. If I'm not going Michigan/Queenschapel/Adelphi then I usually go Riggs to get to College Park/Hyattsville. ETA: That's actually definitely what I'd do - Nebraska to Military and then straight on in toward College Park. Not that it would be *fast* mind you. But nothing will be. It's pain to get east-west, like I said. And, of course, preferred routes matter. If you're happier on the beltway, go up Connecticut and around. Edited January 27, 2016 by Farrar 2 Quote
Luckymama Posted January 27, 2016 Author Posted January 27, 2016 Metro's not an option? We're driving down for college visits fitted in around the NACLO exam at UMD Thursday morning. 1 Quote
Farrar Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Speaking as someone who did a Red line to Green line metro trip today because my car wasn't yet fully dug out... don't. (It's not an option anyway, but... ugh... this is my least favorite metro trip - anything involving going between Green and Red.) Quote
